A Petition for Name Changes.

My UI removes my name spaces.

 

I believe they should give the right to 1 name change similiar to our current username, I also need a name changed from artur818 to "artur"

I'm well aware. What I said was "If people want to have a cap or something donate $200 and get a UI lol." That means if you want a capital letter or a non-capital and are that butt hurt people can donate to get that.

Again like I said I have no objection to a person getting caps or a _ removed.

There's too many people who want to change their names and by letting them do so, a Global would have so much more work to do, changing thread titles etc plus it would cause major confusion.

 

Just make the criteria a user must meet to get a name change strict so that few are able to get a minor change.

 

Just saying with your reasoning, a global wouldn't have the perms to change a user, as I'm guessing it would be with the UT's, which have to be accessed through the Member Search on the ACP. The confusion issue for scamming/impostering is the major issue. I'd like to see an admins views/thoughts on this though, maybe a requirement similar to

- 5k Posts
- $200 Donated

(Minor change only - Capitalisation/Removal of _'s). All numbers/words would have to stick until they are promoted to staff and changed if richard himself deems they are needed to be due to professionalism.

 

I support. Creating a new account is a lot of hassle when you want a name change. An admin was suppose to set me up with a new account about three weeks ago and still haven't received any update on it. I have to start with a new account, loose what little reputation I have with 100-115ish vouches that I have acquired in the past year and a half. It's already bad enough I have folks wanting omm on a 50 cent trade and now I have to start from scratch again. I am not a frank and I am tired of looking at my exs bday 0929. I would love to drop this account right now with no name change but I can't until the admins send me what I need.

 

I don't think it should be that strict. If you have been here long enough to get 5k posts and 2 years time then you're probably settled on your name by then and everyone knows you as that and it is linked to everything you have/own. Now what I do say is that it be something like 2k posts 6 months - 1 year and a one time fee of something like $30 or something.

 

Own4g3, if it were allowed, what you have your name changed to?

I think 5k is a bit much as well; I've been here for going on 4 years now and I'm only just nearing 2k. If it could be any one of those I think I'd agree to an extent although I like Nero's idea more, except maybe donor could count towards the fee or whatever.

 

Name changes should be allowed after a certain join date, activity level, etc. And only -once-.

It should be on a case by case basis and should be similar to the previous name, such as removing the numbers from my name.

The usertitle should be changed to say "Formerly known as *blank*" despite the donator or rank status of the user.

 

I would change it to Cento, my account name and nickname.

 

That will not happen though. If I was admin I would allow you to change it to own4g3.

 

Having the ability to remove dashes or underscores wouldn't hurt but text shouldn't be allowed to be changed and you can only make 1 change in your account.

 

I'd support not name changes, but modifications, with strict limitations of one per year, and changes only to capitalization, spacing, and symbols, and of course subject to Matthew's discretion

 

I guess, I could see what the big deal would be from changing your name for scamming reason's etc, but if someone want's to remove the _ etc from there name and Wants a Capital as long as the root of their name stays the same then I support that.

 

I'm not necessarily a fan of supporting this thread entirely, however I do believe minor changes should be permitted to that of discretion of an admin. My name on here is 'todu', all I want is a capital 'T', what's the harm?

 

There's no harm, name is still the same, just written different. My original name was the black tux. Finn capitalized it for me.

Also, my UI removes the spaces... and really, nobody cares, still the same name.
