Will Account Hacking Increase?

with bots taking a beating and pretty much being shut down by runescape. Do u guys think account hacking will increase? I personally believe bot creators/users will switch to account cracking/hacking/phishing. I may be wrong but i think to much money has been made to just give up on runescape. In the next year mark my words phishing will be brought to a whole new level. If you have any opinions/ ways to fight this new wave lemme kno.

 

Probably not, because there is still working bots and people can get bots one way or another.

But I definitely see what your saying, like gold4rs/gold4fun just been scamming every single customer they've had since bot nuke (across multiple rs market forums).

 

It could, people may want to start stealing gold in order to keep a steady income, however this is a pathetic way of getting gold. There are still working bots, although some are quite expensive.

It's a possibility, but most likely not. The majority of the account hacking occurred during the bot nuke.

 

There wont be an increase, programming is completely different to programming (unless you write the software yourself).

 

I doubt it, I'm sure it'll stay at the same level as people are hacking now. Honestly, I think that less people will play once their money runs out. People gunna get tired of making their own money since bots are gone so they'll either buy gold or quit. Not many have the ability to successfully hack/phish/crack.

The real cash would probably be in ratting because recovering loaded accounts is now next to impossible unless the recoverer has insane doxing/social engineering skills and phishing is nearly dead now that JAG has been introduced. A lot of people could fall for a RAT easily and the hackers can even trade your shit over from your own IP completely bypassing JAG.

Nothing at all has changed in the past few months about bots/bans/etc.
All of the largest and most popular bots are still up and running just fine.

I don't think so. Just because you are 1) Talented at programming/java/pascal/etc and 2) Have the ability/interest to make bots for users doesn't mean that if bots came to an end you would switch to hacking or phishing. You'd just be sad it was over and move onto other things.
I'd say most bot developers and script writers are kind, talented people who take their time to write scripts for the community often times for free. Not at all the type who would resort to hacking people.

Even so, only very ill educated people tend to get hacked/phished. You have to be pretty unintelligent to download/run a malicious file or enter your RS details at a phishing website. They are all so blatantly obvious anyone with half a brain can identify them.

Not sure where this idea came from, bots are just fine, and phishing has never been too huge of a problem because it's not that easy to hack/phish people. On top of that things like JAG/Bank PINs make phishing pretty useless.

There has been no new crackdown on bots. EoC hardly made a difference to most bots, and botany bay was a big fail.

Phishing will not be taken to a new level as it is already at it's peak - the websites themselves resemble the RS webpage entirely, it's just getting you there that can change (currently done by email).
Also now that this phishing scam has been going on for a while it's well known by people, so it's less likely to gain further success.

 

Yeah bots went down for a bit and are still being repaired but I'd say in a month or two they'll all be better than ever.

Yeah just because someone has the skills to do something doesn't mean they have the ill intent of doing it. All the bots I believe get checked for phishing and what not anywho, they do on powerbot anyways.

This is the elephant in the room, no one wants to bring this up because, as stated above, this might give them an idea. They are not ignorant people, they are very smart. That would be a last resort, trump card, or code red, whatever you want to call it. They would have to compare the possible profits off accounts, which are mostly shity, vs money of scripts. I don't think this will happen anytime soon, but when you can't sell the fruit on the tree, you sell the tree.

The nuke didn't work/hasn't kicked in all the way. Bots were completely unaffected.

Don't be rude :/ he can read, he was curious because in the past few months bots have been completely unaffected by anything, no major updates have stopped or hampered any bots. Read the other responses you got to see more info/answers.

 

Simba maybe was affected a day or two, but you can still bot using it flawlessly.

 

Botting will never die on Runescape mainly because the fact that a good percentage of the online players are botters and most of them are P2P making a nice income for Jagex.

 

If your careful you should be able to keep your accounts safe, this will always apply.

But for now a fair few bots are still going strong, don't think they will be written of just yet.

 

People will get more and more aware of account hacking methods, so I think no.
