Insert Youtube Video Revamp

Quite often there are situations where people do not know how to embed their videos properly.

What I propose is that the youtube button here.

Instead of having it insert [youtube ] [ /youtube] tags as people do not know how to place the link correctly inside the tags, have it so that it goes like this where you just paste the whole link into it, making it easier for those who do not how to do it correctly.

All it would have to do would find the = and delete it and everything prior to it really.

Opinions?

 

I think it's a good idea. A lot of forums offer this, and also, this could allow other videos, from different video hosting sites, be put onto Sythe, creating a wider variety of videos being shared.

Plus, it's just easier

 

Make it so when a youtube link is posted, it automatically converts and embeds it.

 

Not everyone would want to embed their youtube video though (I always do, I'm just thinking for some that don't want to so they have options)

I don't see why not. There are several people on a daily basis who need assistance with using the youtube tags. Should definitely be implemented.

 

It's not the biggest priority on the list, but it can't hurt to implement it though. In all seriousness, I would like to see this come into effect because 99.9% of the time I'm going to embed my Youtube videos.

 

Another thing that could be done is add some text where it says something like "Paste in the link after the = sign."

I support this. It'd be nice to have it be as simple as possible, as many members don't understand how the current system works.

Easy enough to implement, although for the sake of not having to purge a URL which can lead to a bunch of horseshit better to have on-screen instructions to paste the video ID rather than the whole URL. Unless the URL's are all the same length (I personally don't count them, but they could be) in which case it would be easy as hell and I could write it.

EDIT: I could write it either way but its easier to prevent malicious shit if its all the same length.

Should be implemented & it isn't hard to add.
