Runescape 3 ?

I am comparing how Runescape was in 2006, to how it is today ?

I prefer the community and players from 2006 more. I've not played RuneScape in weeks now that EoC is live.

 

I'm saying Runescape 3 is coming out so no point in this yet. This is just going to create an unneeded flame wars between 07 and EoC.

 

Nobody asked for 'flame wars' between anyone, if you don't like the thread - goodbye !

 

In terms of community I would say 2006 hands down. However, I don't mind the current Runescape if you want my honest opinion. That video was quite interesting though, I loved the narrator's thought on who would play Runescape 2 as opposed to Runescape 3. The fight is classic combat vs. EoC/HTML5.

 

04-06 was probably the greatest time for RS tbh. There's something about the simplicity, the community, even on the black market side. It was just a good time for the game and that's what I'll always remember RS as.

Now it's just some game that got bought out by a big corporation.

 

Couldn't of said it much better myself.

 

I also want to say PK-ing is nothing like it was, even after they "Brought it back" it doesn't even come close to comparing to the original wildy.

 

2006 without a doubt. Runescape was so simple back then.
Right now they are just adding updated ripped off from other games.
PoP was pretty good but thats about it.

 

Yeah I did love how simple it was, and it was a lot more challenging in the sense of gaining exp .. theres so many new ways to gain exp, and at powerful rates too. It's not far on the old school players who worked hard to get their 99's.

 

Honestly, for old players, in my opinion, there is only one option, it would be Runescape 2006. The reason is that you enjoyed the game much more than today. For example more friendly player, it was just more fun.

 

I'd say rs now if it weren't for eoc, so 2006 since I really enjoy pking, and it's ruined in eoc imo.

 

06 was better as I was a lot younger and the game was so new and vast to explore and do things in. Now'a'days, I know where everything is and what-not, the game holds barely any fun for me anymore. I've just outgrown it pretty much.

 

I'd say 2006. Today they've just added a load of unnecessary crap to the game which makes it too complicated and makes me not want to play it anymore. If 2006 RS was brought back, I'd probably play that.

I loved the community of '06 like everyone else has already said.
I loved the bartering and bargaining of world 1/2 big varrock bank and all the certain spots for certain items!
I miss selling 100 cooked lobs for 25k in varrock east bank lol
I'm personally not a fan of the armour update and how all of it looks now also, so that's also something I would turn back.

That being said, the RuneScape of today has become a lot easier to play with better equipment/bonuses/resources and just general knowledge about the game. Skilling is faster and bossing is easier.

All in all though I vote for 06.

 

Good to see there's still a decent majority of old school players out there !

 

Ah, the community.. the feel.. the simplicity.. the AWESOMENESS of 2006! It will Always be my favorite RS years.. 2005 - 2006 for me were so great.
In 2006 people helped each others much more and there were less Assholes and trolls, wonder why?

Today it's just nothing special... I don't hate the EoC but it bores me so much I quit, it's just way to boring to play.. and all the unnecessary stuff have been changed for no reason, weapons, armor, combat, hitpoints, graphics etc.

I just went back to WoW, it still has it's classic 2004 graphics and feel atleast, unlike a certain failed mmorpg.
