What do you do when you recieve more change back?

Back when I worked in a retail store I accidentaly gave more change and was docked from my pay, I think from the weeks pay I got docked a little over $20. I wasn't bothered because I made the mistake but when I went back there a few months back because I needed to buy something and was handed like $15-$20 over not really sure how much, but I told the cashier to recount it because I don't want someone else to make the same mistake I made and be docked their pay.

If it was somewhere else I still probably would have gave it back.

Usually ends up in pocket, then i forget about it, then it ends up in the washing machine, and i end up having to pick it up afterwards :S

 

I always count my change and give back any extra I'm given. I'm not desperate for money and I don't feel like being an asshole. It's just the nice thing to do. One time where I work a lady left behind some cash that she had pulled to pay for everything. She left and ended up leaving like $200 on the counter, and the guy behind her noticed it when he came up and notified me about it. I ran outside and gave it to her. Now I could've taken it when I was outside and no one would've ever noticed. But I didn't. The lady was very grateful, and I felt good about myself, too.

Learn to count your own change before blaming other people for shortchanging you. I always count my change before I drive off or walk off. Also, try stepping in their shoes. They might have a lot of shit going on in their lives + are 7 hours into an 8 hour grave yard shift. Point being, you don't know what kind of day that person's been having. They could be going to school all day (or night), doing their homework, and working full time to pay the bills. Just try and be a little less self-centered.

 

To be honest with you, I dump the change in my wallet and leave the shop without checking 99% of the time.
