Lighten down on the rules/rule overhaul

Please consider removing permanent bans on all the stupid rules that cause active members to leave and others to just view the forums as a guest. Please also consider adding a reason for people to sign in. Maybe finally remove advertisements for donors, or have a monthly subscription thing instead of donations, so it helps the site and also gives people a reason to sign in. Nothing that'll hurt SEO, just an added bonus.

Some of the stupid rules include:

• Banning ban evaders who were originally only temporarily banned or banned for something not harmful to the community
• Plagiarising Guides: If they're not leaking and not profiting from it, then just give them a few days ban or something, not a month. This isn't college
• Advertising: Remove this, a lot of people technically are advertising when they post their link to their gold site
• Grant restitution or pardons more easily. Even if someone does a terrible crime such as fraud in real life, they get about 5 years, not life.
• Sharing accounts: if someone does it on accident or some shit and doesn't scam, who gives a fuck? Not worth 3 months
• Self/Fake Vouching: Again, it's stupid, but a lot of people are desperate to be trusted. If they don't scam, then it shouldn't be 3 months. Better punishment would be TWC.
• Bad character/blackhat bans: We're a blackmarket. A lot of the people who would be attracted to us are also attracted to some things that aren't exactly considered morally correct, but if they don't harm the community and keep it out of the community, then why should we exile them?
  

I don't know, that's just my opinion on it. I love how Sythe isn't corrupt for the most part and the staff hold up the rules pretty strictly, but at times it's way too strict and we alienate all of our users. I mean come on, the only priority for a permanent ban should be scamming. Everything else just causes members to ban evade until they give up, and then they'll either leave forever or view the forum as a guest, not contributing.

If Syed is unbanned, I think you should unbanned as well, Stui. If you paid everyone back, tried to frame someone because you were upset because Karl was being an asshole on IRC, but caused no direct harm. As long as he didn't scam anyone, he should be allowed back, or that's how I think it should be. Stui's actually a perfect example: he just keeps ban evading and instead of contributing seriously, he just trolls and spams everywhere because he no longer values his account. And he still freely trades, so if he was unbanned on his main account, maybe he would contribute to the community better.

 

And he also wouldn't have to keep pretending he's not Stui every time someone mentions he's Stui.

I agree on the plagiarism rule, maybe if you try sell something and try pss it on as your own you would be required to pay back the money you sold it for but 1 month seems pretty long for a ban.

 

On a serious note, i do actually agree with all this, since im gonna get banned and just acquire a new account, but it's bullshit all the rules, just get rid of them all and start fresh, put a new list in the community general and get people to post on them, kinda like the rule reform but get rid of all the rules and start anew,

Plagiarising Guides: Who cares its a guide as long as people are leaking a guide they bought or trying to sell a free guide, NOBODY cares, e.g. Nerfed he copied and pasted a wikipedia article, brb calling the FBI for plagerisim

Advertising: only ban spam bots

Bad character/blackhat bans: Just cause people are on hackforums doesn't mean they aren't trusted. there are heaps of people on hackforums who have 1k+ feedback

I personally think high pardons should just be removed, they've become a joke lately if you ban evade and do good you have a better chance at being pardoned than someone who never returned back. If somebody repays their scams they should be unbanned if that was the only reason for their ban.

As for stui being an example of this he was perm banned and he was actually being discussed about whether he was going to be unbanned because he was shady as hell. He then tried scamming HHN which just killed his chances, whether it was a troll or not someone like that shouldn't be allowed to return, he's shown no change in his attitude or matured at all and can still be seen as a person who would return just to scam and show a point.

Also for fake vouches I think it should be 1 month ban + mandatory twc. People are more inclined to return if their ban is not as lengthy as 3 months.

Sharing accounts should never be allowed, if somebody legitimately wants to be on sythe they should just create their own account.

Ban evasion should still be a reban for the length of the time they were originally banned for the first time, if they are caught again their account should be permed. Most legitimate new people don't take in the fact of ban evasion at the moment atleast with one warning ban it would show them not to ban evade again or they would be permed.
