Help with old computer cleanup to max speed+more.

Well Ill start off With my computers spec's.

Now Ive been having this computer since 2008, it still runs pretty well but not like i used to have it running, I once was able to run about 2-3 bots and watch movies, play WOW and loads of other things at 1 time on my pc, now it lags when i have 1 bot and WOW up at once or whenever im watching a moving and playing a game or anything like that, Whenever i load up runescape or any web browser my pc's performance instantly hits 100% CPU usage and im only running about 65-70 processes and my memory is up to 1.89 or something around that, whenever i pull up more than one browser it laggs and its becoming really slow shutting down and rebooting.

On my hard drive I have:

146 GB Free of 218 GB and My Recovery is at 13.0 GB Free of 14.6 GB

I dont believe i have any malware on my PC i have United Tech support as my internet and pc security and i haven't had any threats, just maybe some tracking cookies, i also have a pc optimizer that cleans up my pc but it still runs slow.

The only thing i know as of right now is i need a new graphic card in my pc which i am going to get soon.

I know thats bad.

My Driver is up to date and my windows updates are up to date.

I really dont want to lose my pc, is there anyone out there who could point me in a direction as to what i need to do/ buy to clean up my computer and not lose my data i just want to get it running like brand new and i want my numbers to be at an all time high, i want my pc to be running fast and easy, so my CPU usage will never hit 100 wile running less that 80-90 processes.

If anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it please leave some links as to things i could try or buy, please don't post anything you probably haven't used or wouldn't use thanks so much.

 

Run these programs in order

1. Hard Disk Sentinal (http://www.hdsentinel.com/)
2. CCleaner (http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner), go down to advanced settings and click old prefetch data as well, then do registry as well
3. Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) -- full scan

If the Hard Disk Sentinal comes back less the 100% id reccomened a new hard-drive, also if you have an air compresser take the side off of the computer and blow all the dust outa it

btw for hd sentinal you will need to put it on a cd/usb and boot from that

Try this, it helped me:
Control Panel(show all control panel items)>system configuration> click on startup tab and untick any unnecessary programs and they will not run on startup anymore, then restart your computer. (most of the things in there can be unticked) Also if you're not sure what one of them is or does just google it

 

I got my startup in order it runs 70 processes at startup but the cpu usage is still at 90-100%

you are kidding me 70 processes i have like 5

 

Well im trying to get it down to about 65 without interrupting the computers original startups.

 

I suggest doing a clean install of Windows 8. Uses significantly less resources than Windows Vista. And you will clear all unnecessary programs that are running now. I do a clean install every year or so to speed up things and remove unwanted programs and other stuff, even though my PC is just 2 years old.
