    Upgrading my computer

Hello. It's been 2 years since I have upgraded my computer. I would like for it to run like new again and would love help on how to do this.

1.I plan to upgrade from a 7200 500gb hard drive to a 240g intel solid state drive

    2. I plan to upgrade my graphics card from a 6800 series amd to a higher version any suggestions are welcome.

    3. I plan to get 8gigs of ram instead of only having 4.

What else should I get to make it run like new?

My processor is an intel quad core 2.67ghz so idk if I need to upgrade it.

Should I upgrade power supply and motherboard or even the Ethernet adapter or whatever it's called.

I buy everything from newegg. Thanks for reading this. I would like to keep total cost under 1000$

    1. SSD, get a Samsung 840 Pro/OCZ Vertex 4/ OCZ Vector 256GB.
    2. 68XX's are still good enough... If you want to upgrade a 7950 is a good shot.
    3. 8 Gigs of RAM are quite cheap those days..
    4. Tell me what CPU do you have..
    5. What PSU do you have? and what socket does you MOBO have?

By CPu do you mean motherboard? I don't know the exact version but it's a gigabyte with USB 3 capability.

I'll look what psu I have when I get home. How do I check the socket part?

No by CPU he mean's CPU, lol. We need a number like "Q6600". Anyways, I think it's the LGA 775 socket so if you want to upgrade to a more modern CPU you will need a new motherboard as well.

Edit: Just a few suggestions. It's up to you, though:

    1. For the SSD, here is a cheap (but good) SSD: [Newegg Link]. Other options are the Crucial M4 or the Samsung 840 ssds. It's up to you.

    2. The Radeon HD 7970. It's very good for it's price: [Newegg link].

    3. We need to know what memory your motherboard supports. Give us the model or if you know the speed it supports, tell us.

You need to list what CPU (processor) you have. If you can, list all of the parts in your computer. There are guides on the internet on how to do this through control panel.

Intel>OCZ SSDs by far, stick with the intel one imo.

GPU, if it's a 6870, will still do fine, im running one atm and its great.

Your i5 should be fine still if it's a quadcore model. Recently upgraded from a socket 1156, don't notice a huge difference.

8gigs ram is a good upgrade.

Biggest upgrades to make your PC feel snappier and newer; SSD, 8gigs of Ram. imo.
