Smithing or Crafting ?

I was wondering which skill is fastest to get to 99 ?

And which method would you use ?

Common methods for smithing would be smelting gold ores with gold smith gauntlets. I just got 99 smithing about 2 weeks ago doing superheat item with my gold gauntlets and got close to 9M magic xp while getting 99 smithing.

For Crafting you could do green dragon bodies but this is rather expensive.

Speed wise, I know pre EOC you were able to get anywhere between 200k-250k doing green dragon bodies. For smithing, doing the edgeville furnace nets you between 60-70k and superheat item got me around 80k an hour?

But smithing can vary on the method you use, for 88-99 you can do adamant platebodies and that will give you 250k an hour. Ultimately making platebodies would be the quickest but is extremely expensive.

 

get gold gauntlets and smithing gold bars gives you 56xp per ore. you will lose about 100gp if u buy ores and smith to bracelets UNLESS you then craft the bars into bracelets, which will actually profit you 10gp or something like that if it hasnt changed. each bar to brace will give you 25 or 26xp i dont remember. on top of that if you would like to increase your crafting xp when/if you decide to make bracelets, you can buy cut gems, sapphires or emeralds are the only 2 that allow profit if you bought your gold ores and cut gems if im not mistaken, you may wanna check. emeralds are 65 xp and sapphs are 55xp i think. and will if im not mistaken add your profit a little bit.

alternatively you could mine your coal, or addy then buy the other half which would take a while and do addy pl8s. that is the only free/profitable way to 99 smithing that i know of other than duneoneering would would probably suck, other than buying iron and coal then making steel bars and selling back (now that i think about it you do this you could make cannonballs and possibly make more xp and profit then gold... but im not sure what the xp for cannonballs is, so i dont have a xp per hour figure for you . prices can be checked by simply looking in the ge and finding what will cost what.

for crafting, you can buy gold bars at 120 gp per? maybe less. then normal gold bracelets sell for 220 last i checked. and with cut gems u would make a lil more still.

 

Cooking. Possible within a week. Then again, so is firemaking.

That's talking from experience, I did 90-99 in both of them in 4 days each (Monks to 94 cook, then rocktails, and jad lair to 93, magics to 96, jad to 98, magics to 99 fm -- Added some variation).

On the topic of smithing vs crafting it depends on how deep your pockets are, they are both bought skills meaning you can pay lots of rsgp to get to 99 rather then train it. Crafting can net 200-410k at a -14gp/exp rate. As for smithing most people smelt gold ore into gold bars witch people have previously botted at LRC to get 99 mining. Witch is about 70-100k with profit/exp

Fastest with 250-330m RSGP loss within 42 hours is herblore.

personally, i would get 80 mining, go to LRC and mine/superheat the gold ore into bars=smithing/magic xp , then bank the bars and craft into gold bracelets which is good craft/smith/magic xp, and the only cost is nature runes which you could sell back at a later date to balance out costs

 

It depends how much you are willing to spend on each skill. But I would say smithing with gold gauntlets is extremely effective, gaining massive magic xp at the same time. The last time I did this it took about 6 days to get 40-99 smithing and 55-99 magic.
