"Good enough" under $600 budget pc

Decided to post this to help anyone that wants to create a budget pc that has good performance. Totals to $575, but may be slightly more expensive depending on shipping and taxes. Includes a 1tb hard drive and a nice optical drive in case you don't have one.

    Cpu: Intel i3 3225 3.3ghz Dual core • Hyperthreading • Intel HD 4000 Graphics • $144.99
    Gpu: AMD HIS HD 7850 1GB • Free Farcry 3 • $164.99
    Mobo: ASRock H77 Pro4 MVP • Lucidlogix Virtu MVP & more • $79.99
    Ram: CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) • 1600mhz speed • $35.99
    Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB $69.99
    Case & Psu: Rosewill R519-BK • 500 watts • $69.99
    Optical: Asus CD/DVD Burner/Reader $19.99
Total: $585 without discount codes, shipping, tax

No operating system but I assume most people can get it cheap if they don't have it already. If you already have a hard drive and optical drive from your previous pc you can skip them and save $85, and if you already have a case and psu that's compatible with an atx motherboard you can save another $70. You can also sell the free farcry 3 that comes with the gpu. There are also multiple savings and rebates on newegg atm.

Some important things to note about the build:
    - Overclocking the cpu is not possible, can't be helped.
    - The motherboard comes with Lucidlogix virtu mvp bundled which could boost the performance in benchmarks and alot of games by using the cpus intel hd 4000 graphics with the 7850, similar to crossfire
    - 8GB 1600mhz ram is good enough for gaming, video rendering/editing etc
    - Cpu has hyperthreading so it has 4 virtual cores
    - This build can run battlefield 3 on high settings at 1920x1080 with playable fps, maybe even ultra at lower resolutions.

    I would grab a 7850 over the gtx 650 ti. It's $5 more, and a lot better.

And also, be careful about getting power supplies bundled with cases. They are very generic and inefficient. They probably won't last too long, either. I would get a S80+ powersupply that is highly rated.

Tried to keep the price down alot while not going for a cheap brand. Rosewill is decent and the case has good reviews, but yeah someone can buy a psu seperately. Added the 7850.

At first thought I was thinking about going for a i3 3220 instead of a i3 3225. The only difference is the integrated graphics, intel graphics 2500 vs intel graphics 4000. Considering there is a dedicated videocard in this build I would definately switch those two. Saves you 25$.

Anyways, then I realised the Virtu Mvp that you mentioned and looked it up. Seems pretty promising: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/370234-15-virtu-works

Build is very good for it's price :)

    Nice build..
Don't you think it's stupid to get the 500 GB HDD for 65 when the 1TB one is 67.99
It's very similar to what I suggest people with around $600.

cause people dont usually use ore than 500gb of storage, but if it's only a few dollars more i'll add it.

Do you think we should make a thread with the the best parts configurations for the best performance at each price point (like $500, $800, $1k, etc)?

(These would be general recommendations, of course. It's up to the user.)

That could reduce all the "need a build, budget is $500" threads. Could be a community thing where everyone posts what they feel should be in the list and we gather benchmarks, etc. Anyone up for this? Or is it too much work since other sites already have something similar (like tomshardware)?

For the sake of an extra $60, I'd recommend an upgrade to an i5-2500k. There's really no reason to be purchasing an i3 these days - they simply won't be good enough for the future. Have you looked at the OC'd GTX 650 Ti 2GB as a GPU?

Well this is a sub $600 build. If you can get it under $600 with an i5-2500k, list the parts. As for the 650 Ti, the he did have it up there but it was swapped for a 7850 because it is better and only $5 more.

    Thanks!

To keep the price low I couldn't include a quad core (dual core with 4 virtual cores is good enough for this anyway)

I originally had the 650 ti there but I swapped it for the 7850 after looking at some benchmarks, because of this the system can run bf3 at high settings for under $600

You should make a Intel and Nvidia build, I'm not the biggest AMD and ATI fan.

He had the 1 gb non-OC'd 650 Ti. An i5-2500k is only ~$200 if sourced correctly.
