See, I was always a fan of more tactical shooters myself. I grew up on Socom 1 and 2.

COD I don't see as being hard at all. CS actually takes skill and tactics. I still enjoy COD though as a run and gun, play for 20 minutes for fun game.

 

n4no is a beast in these games, he is a Ex-CAL O/M/IM/P player.
He knows really much about this stuff, and he has so much experience.
Him saying CS is better does mean something.

Sure, he's an admin on a RS site, not a well known CS expert. I could say COD is better than CS because (enter reason) but that would carry no weight because it's a personal opinion and I have no ethos in the gaming world.
Same applies to n4n0. He's not a recognized user by the CS experts, he's just another opinion.

I'm not into the competitive clan, national stage for gaming. But in terms of gameplay, COD > CS

 

Like Leaf of Life said, n4n0 is Ex-CAL O/IM/M/P player, he has a lot of experience. Even the best COD players would not make it past CAL-O if CAL was still around, let alone ESEA-Open. I don't think you could stand playing COD for over 13 years, I've played CS for over 10 years now, and I'm still playing CS. If you really want, I can even contact the top professional North American Counter Strike players and even ask them which is better. I have over 30 CAL-Invite players and ESEA-Invite along with CEVO-P players on Steam that will back up "CS > COD" any day of the week(and yes, they are very recognized in the CS scene). I can even contact the top European players and they would backup that same statement as well. I also have over 9000 hours of CS played from 2002 to now, and currently have 5000+ hours counted on Steam for Counter Strike 1.6.

Even look at this... XeqtR, was one of the best players in the world, and is still recognized by CS players all over the world. And look what he says... "Only bad players play COD4" meaning the Call of Duty series in general. Also after that, he states "The only reason why people don't play COD4, cause it's not a skill based game. CS brings out the skill in the top players, and you can see it".

I don't like either since both are seriously unrealistic piles of garbage, but just because it sells a lot doesn't make it any good, look at Kiss they sold millions of albums and they are pure trash.

Obviously top players that are good at the game they make a living off of are going to say that their game is #1. Doesn't matter if it's CS or Beach Volleyball 2k12.

I've played since 2003 best COD came out. Bought every expansion pack and then moved onto console once they made them for consoles.

Never been bored once, it's a great series with great gameplay. Last time I checked, 2012-2003 = 9 years, 10 in a few months.

If we really want to settle this, we'd have to go to an unbiased source, because asking top players of any game will get a biased answer. They're the top dog for a reason, they're good at a game they love, so naturally they'll say it's #1.

CS doesn't even look that hard, out of the few videos I've seen, all it is is 1 teammate luring people into a blind spot and the rest of the team picking them off. At least that's the highlights, which speaks a lot for the game. Then you have people shooting through walls and boxes and getting kills somehow. It's basically the same gameplay, only difference is that COD is easier for younger players to setup and play, you don't need to be a computer geek to understand it. Plus, it's cheaper.

You're a 100% right saying it's overrun by young players, numbers don't lie. Hence, COD gets a negative annotation for saying it's easy, because you have novice players playing. Plus you have OP weps, spas, aa-12, noob tube etc which makes it easier to get kills. In CS you don't have that. It's a user friendly game that's fun to spend time playing. Same can be said about CS.

Either way, unbiased source would have to weigh in on either game to have a legitimate outcome. Of course, there's always going to be disagreement, hell, this whole conversation is just going to go in circles.

 

I've played both games to know that CS is better than COD. Did you even watch the video I posted in the beginning of the thread? That was a pro CS Source player playing BLOPS the first time or so. And he was dominating all those players in that server like nothing. Also, he was a Source player, Source players are bad. 1.6 players > Source players. But that is an example of how easy COD is.

Honestly, if you haven't played CS yourself, especially 1.6, you can't say anything about the gameplay being easy. It's 1000x harder than it looks, if I stuck you in the shittiest CS1.6 pub server, I doubt you'd do any good at all. You'd go 0-15 in a normal ESEA-PUG. Shooting through walls/boxes et cetera is apart of the game(in 1.6 at least, cause Source lacks it) and you'd have to be almost pinpoint accurate to kill them through the wall/box et cetera. You'd have to know an enemy is behind that specific wall, or if it's a spam spot, you'd have to be lucky to get that kill. If you really want to prove me wrong, you can download a Non-Steam version of Counter Strike, and I'd be more than willing to watch how bad you suck at the game.

Don't seem that hard. Especially with a mouse and keyboard and a nice easy crosshair with no recoil.

 

Yes there are some suspensions of disbelief, but those games take it too far for my liking.

What's wrong with spamming walls? It's apart of the game, and de_nuke is the best wallspamming map there is, did you even see Lethal get a kill through a wall? No. Absolutely nothing wrong with wallbanging, ask any CS player if they love wallspamming, and they'll agree 100%.

You're defending a bombsite, and you want to rush the Terrorists and get killed? That's not very smart, you're defending a bombsite. If you watched the Na'Vi strats, you'd see the Terrorists are rushing a bombsite or taking it over.

Like I said, why don't you play the game yourself? You can download a Non-Steam version, and we'll see how well you fare. COD has a crosshair too, and aiming down the site is even easier.

I don't know if you're stupid or what, but there is recoil, and it's impossible to spray at long distances(unless you get super lucky) and get the kill. In COD, you can aim down the site and empty your clip and there will barely be any recoil. Here's two videos of one of the best CS1.6 Swedish players in the world demonstrating the CT and T weapons recoil and how to control them. He is now managing NiP, which has been undefeated on LAN at CSGO.

In CS it's 5v5 in all events/tournaments, except small tournaments like aim_map 1v1 and shit like that. It's impossible to win on your own, you need a team, you need to develop strats/tactics and what not.

No it's quite possible to 1 man 3 or more guys, happened at some of the ESL's and stuff like that. If you run around like that in bf3 then a tank/heli/plane light you up which is alot more realistic to me.

 

That's a clutch round, do you think that they can win every round for 16 rounds alone? No one can, it'd be impossible, unless the players are really bad, but we're talking about competitive here.
