Worth waiting for macbook pro 2013?

I really need a new laptop and Im set on an apple laptop.

At the moment, the 2012 is pretty cheap, but I heard apple was planning something better for 2013- like a slight design change, thinner laptop, and faster browsing etc. Its 2013, but has anyone heard any rumours of when 2013 would come out? If it comes out to be like $2500, I certainly won't be waiting, because I cant afford that.

Should I wait or just go ahead and buy the current 2012?

To be honest, any Macbook Pro you purchase is going to do you good for a long while. I have last years 15" model, and it still works wonders for me; can even play games quite well, for a laptop that is.

If you want to wait until 2013, the only improvements I can see being implemented is a new processor and retina improvements. Not really worth the wait in my opinion, because we all know a hefty price is going to follow forth with these implementations.

One suggestion I would like to make though, is to not get the 13" form of the Macbook Pro, it's just too damn small. I upgraded from the 13" to a 15" and the improvements are beyond what I hoped for. Best of luck with your purchase.

I'm not sure if waiting is worth your time, but the new Haswell processors look promising. Intel graphics 4000 can currently run all games at medium @ 1366x768 with around 30 FPS. The new integrated graphics in Haswell processors can run 1920x1080 medium at 30 FPS. That's twice as much pixels at the same FPS -> the graphics will be about twice as powerful.

Especially with a retina screen it's worth waiting for Haswell processors.

Well I actually just realised that we are talking about the macbook pro so it has dedicated graphics (650m). Overall you can always wait for a newer generation as the performance is just getting so much better every year.

I can see Apple only selling Retina Macbook Pro 2013 versions and ditching the non-retina ones. It is really up to you, you can wait for the 2013 version and get better performance at a higher price, or get the 2012 version and still get good performance at a lower price.

Honestly, imo there is NO MacBook that is worth getting excited about. I have one, and about the only thing I use it for is folding@home, which its only even mediocre for that at best.

If you must have a macbook(gotta love conformity) then just get the 12 model. If it were me(if I even liked mac, bear in mind) I'd just buy a badass PC laptop(one that actually has hardware & cooling worth mentioning) and set it up to dual-boot windows and mac OSX. Yes yes, it doesn't have to have a half-eaten apple on the lid to run OSX. and believe it or not, a nice gaming windows laptop will run mac OSX better than any apple laptop ever could...for much less money.
