Thoughts? Bear in mind this is not just drug arrests, there has been a steep drop in violent crimes and homicides.

No one should be arrested for pot, growing, dealing, or even simple possession of any amount. We all know it's not dangerous anyhow, so what happened to the real law?

What happened to the real law was a government propaganda campaign against marijuana fueled by the alcohol, tobacco, and private prison lobbies. Many groups stand to lose money if it's legalized. Two states have already started to legalize, so it's just a matter of time before the rest do.

Also in Canada as well, because weed is basically decriminalized. My buddy got caught with an Oz, and the cop gave some back to him and told him to have a good night.

There is your proof you anti marijuana people who think that stats like this coming from europe are not enough evidence.

@leetneo come to Quebec and the cop will beat your ass steal your Oz and throw you in jail for the night. Maybe even give you an extra beating if your english.

I know a guy in Quebec, he said "The cops can't do anything to you even if you got an Oz". Also, on "WeBeHigh" tells you a lot about the Quebec law enforcement...

Lame, I assume you're somewhere from Quebec? Anyways, I wouldn't be too scared about having weed in Quebec, especially in these years now which most police know that it's not harmful. Also according to Marc Emery, all the judges in Canada are now saying that marijuana is no longer an offense known to law. Go Canada and Winnipeg! <3 GO JETS GO!

I know the laws but it really depends on what kind of cop you get. He can either take it away/warn you. Give you a notice to appear(Getting arrested but, just not going to jail) or haul your ass downtown. It all depends. Also it depends where your smoking it who your smoking it with how much you got etc. Trust me if you get a french cop(and your english) he he will be harder on you. I know what you mean you really shouldn't be worried walking down the street with a few grams. No one is going to prison over possetion. So that's good.

You can technically get busted in The Peg as well, of what happened with Marc Emery in 2003 when he was doing the Canadian tour. Also, my buddies father who works for the government and manages the cities money says "The cops don't even care, they can't do nothing to you even if you got an Oz. They don't even care about the dealers, they might care about the grow ops though".

You'd need to legalize cocaine too.

    What this guy said ^

I'd like to at least just point out that the reason that those stats have dropped are indeed simply because it was legalized. We all know the trade was dangerous, and you always ran risk if you were involved it in. Same goes for any other drug that has a market.

But this isn't really a solution to the problem like everyone is saying, this is just essentially just giving the crying baby it's milk. I can almost guarantee that over time a new plethora of issues will arise.

I'm completely fine with this. Treat addiction like a disease and not a crime.

Addiction can and often does lead to the not-so well-being of others. Therefore, if it affects/infringes another person's rights (Or even contribute to the said), then it SHOULD be treated as a crime.

I'm not against this, but this realistically isn't happening anytime soon. Baby steps my friend, baby steps.
