Range Tanks after EOC

Hi I have a f2p range tank and I was thinking about starting to train it up again and maybe go p2p with it to pk. The current stats are:
40 Atk
58 Str
40 Def
64 Rng
43 Mage

Do range tanks still do well in pking after the EOC update and also due to the new updates what stats should I aim for?

If you make a range tank, you might as well train the melee and mage stats aswell. I dont think they will add to your combat level, unless higher than your range level.

 

Yeah a ranged tank is basically just a high-level main since ranged is now a major deciding factor of combat. Your combat is decided by the highest of your strength, attack, defense, and magic.

That being said, a high-defense, high-ranged account is very good. Ranged and magic seem to be the most effective PvP styles because you can get a longranged jump on your opponent, getting in a few attacks before a meleer can run up.

 

Ahh so if I wanted I could have 99atk/str/rng/mage/prayer then say 50def and it'd be the same as 99rng/str/mage 60atk and 50 def and 1 prayer?

 

It sucks that Jagex have done this, I don't even know what's happened to al the pures now? Has the pure clanworld died or something?

 

I honestly don't know, I only play RS to gamble now tbh, the EOC is crap...

 

Your combat would be the same with 99 attack as it would with 60 attack

so if i had 99 def and 99 ranged, i would be the same level as a 99att 99def 99str 99 ranged, 99 mage?

 

Yeah it would...

 

If you had 99 range/def you would be max combat (200)
the calcuations are:
defense level + highest combat level + 2
i'm not a big fan of the new system
