Tl;dr Managers are incompetent, purge people that have been there for many years, hire temps in their place. Constantly switch goals/ideas so not much content is completed(FunOrb, Stellar Dawn comes to my mind).

 

Read a bunch of the reviews, very interesting and they all have the same theme.

Management has no idea what they're doing, don't listen to feedback given on development of games, completely ride an idea until it's beaten to death, even if the idea wasn't a good one from the start.

Seems to be a very stressful place to work too.

 

Review projects regularly, especially before putting significant investment into them, and be prepared to cut projects that don't look worth it any more.

Running a business must be a piece of cake if those clowns can exist for this long.

 

It's sad anyone even takes this seriously. Of course they hate Jagex; they left. They had personal reasons of leaving and, just like anyone else who quit a job, have colorful things to say about it.

Read in-between the lines. They spin neutral or normal happenstances negatively. Yeah I do believe a few managers were lackluster, but give me a break. Has anyone here ever had a job where every member of management was amazing?

Probably the fact that they left or got fired doesn't really help. If they were still working for them, the reviews would be a lot better.

I don't find that intriguing at all. My Math teacher used to say there are three great lies in the world. Lies, lies and statistics. Anyone can and do manipulate statistics to support their arguments.

Also +1 to Kero and IDB for seeing through this.

 

All of the reviews, even the good ones, seem to state that the company is poorly managed. Or at least the game development is poorly managed. I can see that being true. They haven't seemed well managed for about 5 years now.

 

Also keep in mind, some of those reviews ARE of current employees, not ones who quit/got fired, and seem to have the same comments.

 

This is so true, This is way the game has got CRAP since 2009. They've murdered RS.

Jagex stinks nowadays imo.

 

This is an awesome find, and it is imo a perfectly logical explanation for what has been happing with the game these last years. Illogical decisions made by a top layer of people who have no feeling with the game, ignoring obvious signs and employee feedback.

The game is being killed by people who care more about their position than the game they are making.

But that's just how it feels to me.

 

People still don't realize that the majority of players who play the game don't express their opinions through forum boards or YouTube. PEOPLE LIKE EOC. PEOPLE LIKE SOF. The people who like it have no need to sign petitions or make sop videos. They are enjoying the game. Eoc was an essential update for Jagex to gain the interest of new players.

New players don't have the same nostalgic attachments to the previously (more or less) outdated runescape mechanics. Imagine if you started playing old run escape and new runescape for the first time in the same day. The tacky cut scenes and hotkey style combat is exactly what new players like. If you think that they have just been making poor decisions blindly you are sorely confused. All of that extra income (sof increased sub rates...) has helped to pay for millions in market research. This is a game that sells.

I've been playing since 2001, everyone throws a fit everytime Jagex changes the game, but the whole reason the game is dying is because of the community's oposition to change. The game MUST evolve to stay alive. And Jagex are doing a fantastic job to keep up with the times, the EOC is long overdue, I remember there being talks of a new combat system in 2004 however it was put on delay because of various other updates needing more attention like new servers.

I Personally don't mind the eoc, it is something new to learn and adds a bit of excitement to the game.
