Why is Runescape losing players?

Its just in a downtime, everything goes through booms and troughs.

I'm pretty sure the companies that invested in Jagex where invested in pre 2010.

 

Many players actually suggested to Jagex before they released EoC that they should create two separate world for the 'Old Style RS' and the EoC. So if you don't like the EoC then you can simply log in into the Old Style otherwise into the EoC depending on your choice. But, you know what's the real problem is, Jagex no longer listen into their customers wherein 'Customer should always be right'.

People have demands, Jagex isn't filling those demands thus making them lose players.

 

I'd say minecraft is taking a lot of potential people that might of played RS instead.

 

Runescape rolled out the EOC. Tested by people who wanted to try it, not by people who did not want to try it (the majority). I canceled the day they rolled it out (after over 9 years as a paying member). This morning i checked to see how many they lost since then and it is at one third of the players. I have been in email contact with a jagex mod xan and his stupidity and trying prolong his suffering and mine has come to an end (he is spammed). He wants me to test all of EOC's changes and i refuse (I will not pay for that nor do i wish to, they need to take down EOC completely before they lose enough players that they just fall down the hole for ever.

 

maybe it's just us? we all getting older (i will get 21 in 3 months lol), we are all playing runescape for years now and we know it for a long time and how it's going there

there will be a new generation of rs players who will like the new things, maybe they will hate the old things? i also miss the old times where it was a real community, where ppl helped each other and so on...

 

This is an interesting thought you have as Silentc0re (a Runescape YT icon) also puts time and effort into Minecraft tutorials and such. He recently made a poll offering Minecraft tutorials as an option alongside general Runescape skill guides, methods, etc. So this is a valid entry in my eyes, it's only a one-time fee as well which you can't beat.

The grand exchange severed face to face communications once it was implemented, that I won't disagree with. Which also brings me to your next statement that I fully agree with. The fan base has grown over the years, and new players won't understand what Runescape was like prior to EoC, GE, etc. Again, in my opinion Jagex should adopt private serves and instead label them as 'fantasy servers' where spawning, etc is allowed. Fcpl0x and joj0r raised some solid points here.

Once again, that's a matter of opinion and your personal opinion is that Runescape is ruined due to EoC. I've been playing since Classic and enjoy the EoC so there you have it.

 

It's not really losing many players. Sure, the ratio of losing players to gaining players is about 2:1, but this isn't always the case. I don't think rs will be dead for another 10 or so years, the community is still pretty large.

 

The game has just become a joke to be honest. I would love to see how many of the accounts in the game at the moment are accounts which have botted at least once. I'd easily say 60%+ of the accounts would have been prone to botting. Nothing is legit anymore, to get gold you no longer cut yews or fish lobbies, but stake or scam or dice or hot/cold. Flipping is just about the only way to make money even half legibly in my eyes, and that doesn't even involve the use of 99.999 of the game. Imo legitting is gone, all that's left is bot til' maxed.

 

Micro-transactions, bots, nothing unique about rs anymore(eoc), jagex handing out so much xp its not even funny

 

A lot of old players are quitting the game, due to the EoC update. But not just that update, the last few months/year updates has turned the old Runescape into a completely new game, and the EoC just topped it off. I don't enjoy pking anymore, staking, going castlewars or anything. Even PvM bossing. Those were some of the fun parts of the game which are no longer fun, so a lot of people have decided to quit

 

Or it could be that the bot update was a success. A few weeks before the EOC update one of my bot-related accounts that I haven't logged into for 200+ days was banned for major macro; i'm sure there are others in my situation.

 

I think SoF was the final nail in the coffin. By all means introduce cosmetic / emotes that people can pay a bit more for, but when stuff actually influences the game - well fuck that. Also, an update the solomon store does not count as a fucking game update. So annoying...

I think Runescape has definitely had it's time to shine, and will never be as good as it was. Jagex have just toyed with it for too long, and now they are selling out to rake some lasts bits of cash in before the game properly dies out.

Just full of gold farmers, new schools noobs and wanna be player mods.

There's no community, everything's too different to the game we all used to enjoy ..
