I didn't read the whole thing (yet).
but if it helps her live and fight leukemia, then I'm all for it. As long as it's not doing her more harm.

I'm all for this. I lost my little sister 5 years ago to leukemia; if we had the chance at this, I can guarantee my parents wouldn't have hesitated.

I'm kind of unsure as well. But honestly, a 7 year old going through chemo is really sad, and if it can keep her eating and energetic (and hopefully have no longterm effects :\), I'm all for it.

I couldn't help but laugh. As long as the benefits are there, and the cons are minimal, good for them.

What kind of a name is 'Purchase' though. Strange!

All I can say is, good on them. If it helps relieve pain and takes some stress away from a horrible disease, I'm all for it. I bet the parents share it to help with the stress as well, imagine if your child had a life threatening disease. Whilever they don't have a cure, everything needs to be done to help.

I don't think necessarily giving her medical marijuana is the issue, but in fact, the amount of she consumes. In the video it stated that she has 1.2g of cannabis oil in 24 hours... which is like smoking 10 joints.

It's pills I doubt the kid even knows what pot is and doesn't associate the pills she taking or the feeling with drugs in anyway. If it was my child I would do anything to make the experience less painful for her.

Over a 24 hour period it really isn't a lot. I assume it's either some kind of time release pill or she's just getting multiple doses through out the day but then again I've never had cannabis oil so it could be a much more potent effect then smoking a gram.

You have to read this twice to really get the important point here
Even without medical marijuana, she'd be perfectly fine, as long as she got some sort of painkiller and treatment for the side effects of chemo. The whole relationship between her mother and the grower and everybody around her is filled with pot as it is, but beyond that, it's important to remember there are lots of treatments for chemo. In fact the cannabis is used to treat pain, nausea, vomiting, depression and sleep problems associated with her cancer treatment, not the cancer itself. She was given a 76% chance of survival with chemo, and the variety of options available for chemo side effects is wide. She could have gone through this with minimal or no medical marijuana use.
It's completely unrelated to the actual cancer, only side effects. Throwing 10 joints at someone in order to relieve pain means that it's not that effective, since heavy duty pain relief can do the same in much less. It's also definitely going to impact her development, since as opposed to other pain and sleep drugs Marijuana is much much more complex and THC's main purpose is not to heal. A derivative of pot that has the primary effect of relieving pain is completely different: You don't take morphine to get high. She doesn't need it and the quantity is completely out of the question and on top of the ideology she's getting then this is really just teaching her to be a pothead and her lungs will suffer for it.

You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Yes this is only treating the symptoms of chemotherapy, but that's the hardest part of cancer.

And you only have so many other options with treatment of symptoms, and they're all in different pills. As opposed to just the medical marijuana and ginger she's taking now, she'd be taking at least 3-4+ pills which are probably in the long run worse for her health.

Why so hostile to accepting marijuana as a reasonable way for a young child to deal with the effects of going through Chemo? I can how you would be worried about the child continuing heavy marijuana use in the future and become a drug addled dud, especially with her growing up in that sort of environment. But what about if she was just fed the brownies, and never told about the fact marijuana was in it? She's not smoking anything and there is no scientific proof that she could overdose, not to mention it's very economical for a poor family if they grown their own marijuana and keep it hidden from the child. Then in the future if she chooses to smoke pot it'll be her conscious choice, and completely unrelated to her treatment when younger.

The effect of marijuana on the brain development is worrying, but I can't imagine a young child taken heavy dosages of traditional pain killers (Tylenol, etc) to be good for development, either.

seeing as the five year survival rate for a lot of people with this is around 50%, I couldnt care less if she toked up.
weed does very very little harm as it is.

so for you people saying she has a 75% survival rate, that is only the present survival rate.
many cancers come back with vengence

It is not like it slightly impairing his development would outweigh the enormous benefits.

great, its not as though its getting her high out of her mind or something . Marijuana has lots of medicinal benefits and smoking it or eating it in a way to maximize its intoxicating effects isnt the only way its beneficial. Her ingesting oil supplements isnt getting her fucked up, that takes away almost all if not all intoxicating effects and apparently still does her good. People need to get off the stigma of marijunana being a "drug" when its used as a medicine especially in forms like this. This is 90000000000000000000000 times better than her being put on some other form of pain management... 8/10 they put people on opiates for stuff like this and opiates are all derived from fucking opium poppys (the shit heroin is made from) but people dont get heated about painkillers like they do medicinal marijuana.

I'd say as long as it is actually helping her, then it's ok.

Not opposed, if it helps her through the pain of overcoming leukemia in any way I'm for it. Besides the way it's typically administered medically it's not like she's smoking a joint in a hospital bed, she probably was administered a pill or cream or something and if it's being used as purely an anesthetic than whatever.

CBD oil has been known to cause cultured cancer cells to self destruct, so the way I see it more power to them.
