Believing in things now seen ?

Well im in a point in my life where im really confused, ok follow me. Im 21 i have 3 kids im really trying to be an inspiration to then and teach them the right path to follow, but at the moment im finding it hard to even teach myself what to actually believe.
Ive grown up in a really religious household. Where it was required to go to church every Sunday "christian". Ive always just sat in church and wondered what the heck am i doing here i havnt even seen this guy there talking about and crying out too, So i guess what im actually trying to find out is am i wrong for not believing, but it actually scared the hell out of me thinking of hell as its described in the bible.

OMG its so wierd i seem to feel so back because of my non religious preference.

My parents are religious and I went to a Catholic School, yet I consider myself Atheist. It's not unnatural to not believe in a faith that your family does.

It's not unnatural at all to question your beliefs, in fact it's a good thing. Kids don't need to be religious to be good people, just instill morals without forcing Christianity on them.

Well it all depends on your personal preference. No one should tell you what to do, you have to find that for yourself. A lot of people here are going to try and bash religion, but the truth is people like to pick and choose what they see in everything from religion to music and we can find bad things in literally everything. So it's nothing we can really help you with.

If you believe in god then people will say that at some point it is normal to question your faith.

If you don't believe in god then people are going to tell you that it's just what has been bred into you and that your fear of hell is irrational.

But it's your job, in the end, to decide.

You're 21 and have three kids? I could give you my advice but I doubt you'll take it since you probably can't even count the amount of people that have told you to wear condoms.

If you do have faith in God, then it's essential to fear him. That's spoken about in the Bible, anyway it comes down to your personal decision at the end of the day. Personally, I love God but I wouldn't convince myself nor my children to sit in a pew if I wasn't receiving what was being preached. The Old Testament will scare the living daylights out of a large portion of people who were taught to believe in God from what I've seen.

HAhaha ye the old testament is something tough, but im kinda leaning to just letting them grow up and choose whichever they want, but my parents constantly push the fact of family religion onto them i just dont want them to be raised and confused to where they think people who arent Christians are bad people idk its always just in the back of my mind.

Don't hesitate expressing your feelings to your parents if it's a growing concern in the back of your mind is my advice. Definitely squash that bug if you see it as a growing concern because from my experiences what you mentioned happens on a frequent basis among Christian (Protestant, Pentecostal, Non-denominational, etc) churches that I've visited.

Don't go to church if you don't believe in what they preach. Definitely don't encourage your kids to worship something that you don't even personally believe in.

But at the same time if your kids want to go to church then you don't need to try and dissuade them from it. People find their own way, and alienating your parents because you don't want your kids to go to church because you don't believe is not a good choice. Do make it clear what you believe though and be honest, but don't be a complete prick to your parents because of your biases. They raised you, and a unless they abused you then I am sure it was probably a pretty decent childhood.

I was born and raised Roman Catholic and got Confirmed when I was 14. I'm sure I'll explore more religions in college and in my later years, as I don't follow a lot of what Catholics do. It's not that important to me right now; I'd rather focus on school.

My immediate family have always been a group of regular church-goers and I usually get dragged along. It's not so bad to hear what they have to say; I like to know my choices and you should too. I've been to services of the Judaism religion, the Islamic religion, and Buddhism (along with Catholic mass, of course).

Consider the possibilities in your mind, make your own decision on the matter.

It's actually a lot of fun.

I'm non religious and was raised in a household with religious parents but they didn't raise me religiously which I'm greatly thankful for. By that I mean that they introduced me to religion (father is Jewish, my mother is Christian) but they didn't force me to go to church or condemn me if I didn't want to go. Got tastes of it growing up, as I got older I educated myself on the matter and decided it wasn't for me. I'd let your kids choose but introduce them to religion maybe and see how they take it. Of course this depends a lot on their age if they're 3 or 4 keep a very basic concept. Just my two cents, take it or leave it :)
