Nah I'm not really impressed by the benchmarks in comparison. You wouldn't need anything changed for it to work, for about $30 more you can get the i5-3570k though, which is a monster of a processor. We would have to change the motherboard because it doesn't support OC'ing. At this point I still recommend the i3.

 

I would scrape up any extra change to choose a more powerful motherboard as well as the i5 processor as it makes the PC faster through and through.

 

Yeah, I would definitely support upgrading the Mobo to allow for an i5-3570k and OC it. Even if you don't OC it, it's still a much better CPU than any i3.

Totals to $560 and it includes 500gb storage and an optical drive. The motherboard comes with lucid virtu mvp so the $10 higher cpu is justified since you can use both the gtx 560 and intel hd 4000 graphics.

 

I have no hard drive and optical drive, using a laptop haha. Also, could you switch the processor the something cheaper like an i3 Ivy or something to cover budget. :33

 

Were you satisfied with what I had posted for you? I can get the same price with some similar parts, I was going along with your budget and expectations. You had your budget, yet you were trying to get more processing power so I wasn't sure what you were thinking at this point.

For 500$ you are better off with a cheaper motherbord and an i3 with a better graphics card than a more expensive motherboard and an i5 with a cheaper videocard.

Not worth it getting an i3 3225 in someones build, it is pretty much the same as the i3 3220 except that it has intel graphics 4000 instead of 2500 which is what makes it cost 30$ more. The ivy bridge i3s have hyper threading and I'm pretty impressed by the performance. My mothers PC has an i3 3220 aswell and it's pretty fast.

I suggest ll champion's build. And for building it, I recently build a new PC for my mother and I ran into some problems. In the end everything was caused by a broken cable. On this picture: http://www.kenable.co.uk/images/molex_extension.jpg When connecting the part on the left with the part on the right one of the pins on the left part got pushed down. So it was just connected with 3 pins instead of 4. All in all an easy fix, if you have any problems be sure to check the cables.

Holy hell, what happened there? Shipping rates to Canada? There is other stores who can offer the same product, but cheaper to save money. There's a major difference for $150.
