Skype Update > 3D to 2D

Skype was just updated. Looks like all gradients were removed to make it look 2D instead of that old bumped out 3D look.




What do you all think? Microsoft fuck it up?

Exit out of it and open it up again, it'll install an update then look like this.

 

If the update doesn't appear go to -

Menu bar > Help > Check for updates > Update now.

It looks alright I guess, Teamviewer has a similar looking layout with the last update it had too. I suppose Microsoft are basing it all off the Windows 8 theme.

 

3D > 2D almost always.

 

Well, obviously Microsoft owns Skype now, and they are trying to create that Windows 8 look across all of their products.

I don't even think it looks that bad, yeah the icons and buttons are 2d now, but they still function as they did before. The general look is still relatively the same.

 

I haven't updated my Skype yet and will have to say the 3D version looks better imo

Imo it looks better, but that might just be me.

 

Windows 8.
It fits the W8 theme pretty well but so far none of the applications that have been themed like that fit well in Windows 7 and it looks inconsistent and shitty.
Not that windows 8 looks particularly good outside of metro

 

Yeah I noticed it doesn't look as good. 3D is always better than 2D, every decent photoshopper knows that and should strive for it. It fits windows 8 but hardly anyone actually has windows 8 so far.
