    Ok, so here goes.

I'm 17 years old not too far from being 18, but I'm treated as if I'm incapable of taking care of myself. Note that I live in Australia.

Few of the many things which I'd like to point out I can't do are:

    - Go to the beach with friends
    - Go watch a soccer/football game at a stadium with friends
    - Sleep over at a friends house even if my parents know who they are (they've even let me younger sister who's 11 do sleepovers but never me)
    - Get a lift from one of my friends
    - Sign up for a gym (lol?)
    - Have a bank account (I got one anyway because over the age of 16 you can just get one anyway without parents consent).

It's always been frustrating but now that I think of it I'm gonna be a legal adult in a few months and I'm being treated as if I was like 12 years old. I don't understand why, my mum is the main problem. My dad would allow things but my mum for no reason on the stupidest things doesn't let me do stuff. She's even stopped me from playing a game for the soccer club I play for because she wasn't home but my elder sister and dad was. I always end up losing my shit and getting pissed off and start swearing because its not fair I cant do shit others can.

How can I go about resolving this? I don't want to waste the remaining childhood I have as a fucking anti-social person.

NOTE: My mum just declared I'm not allowed to get my drivers license when I'm 18 even though it's my choice lol wtf

Dude. I'm 16 and my parent's don't let me have a phone anymore (LOL). They're muslims, but i'm not, i just leave the house anyway and am also trying to maintain my grades. What i do is just fucking LEAVE without asking, if they've got an issue, so be it, but what's the most they can do?

I'm not saying start problems, just stand up for yourself.

Lol my mum takes things off me which I pay good money for myself if I do shit that annoy them.

At the moment, my mum has my dre beats pro because apparently I'll get brain trauma (LOLOL), my Turtlebeach x41s, my ipod 4th gen and heaps of other random shit. She just sort of hides it from me for no valid fucking reason. I've had my own PC taken off me and believe it or not they've even hid my own money from me.

Sit down with her, possibly with your dad too, and talk it out. Confront her why she treats you like you're younger than your sister, plus you're a guy and it's girls that needs more protection.

I doubt she'd have a good argument, but some people are really clever with their choice of words. Just be prepared for the worse, and ask her if there's something she wants to tell you.

Would be nice if you kept us updated.

    My thoughts entirely.

It could also be that she doesn't want to let her "baby boy" go by letting him grow up. My mom was the same way with my older brother when he was getting close to being out of the house (last two years or so). She's starting to get like this with my other brother now, too, since he'll be graduating next year.

My Parents sort of treat me like this, but have eased up they do not take my stuff.

I resolved my issues with them by simply talking it over with them, reassured them they raised me so surely they trust me enough to go out overnight. Since i had a talk when i was 16, they've been much more calmer and trusting. As long as you stay on their good side im sure you'll get your wishes.

Parents are usually protective over the first born, if you have a mature conversation with them and explain how you think it's unfair they'll probably be a bit more lenient. Besides, you said it yourself - you're almost 18 and they wont have control over anything you do in a few months, just sweat it out til then if you can't make them change their minds.

My parents used to do the sleep over part to me, but they don't care anymore cause I disobey their authority when I was 17. So they just didn't care. I suggest you just don't follow your parents rules, I suppose the worst thing that could happen is that your parents will kick you out at the age of 18. But when that time comes, you have to be independent and get a job, support yourself, go to University/College or whatever.

My parents are like that, but not entirely. Up until highschool they were protective, but I told them that if they don't let me, I'd do it anyway so be fucking thankful that I am honest with you. And they just let things slide nowadays.
