    iPhone was stolen :(

Today I found out my iPhone was stolen, and worst of all, I'm almost positive it was someone from my football team. Basically on Saturday we had the last game of our season, and I hurt my ankle and wasn't able to go to our dressing room, instead I had to go home and undress their so I could then go to the hospital for X-rays. My brother grabbed my jacket and jeans from my football locker, except for my iPhone which I always leave under a pile of underarmor shirts and leggings in my locker (which is really just a bench with two hooks above it for your helmet/jacket to hang out, then two wooden walls to divide everyones lockers) so it's more hidden, and doesn't fall out of my jeans when I grab them to put them on. So when my brother gave me all my stuff that he got from my locker, I noticed my phone wasn't there. Today when I went to clean out my football locker it wasn't there.

I asked my coach if anything had been turned into him, I asked the schools office, I asked everyone near my in the locker room. No one else is able to enter the locker room, since it's locked after everyone is done changing, and nobody who isn't on the team is allowed in when we're changing, so it almost had to have been someone on my team who took it. You think that you can trust people, you know? Fuck.

Is there anything I can honestly do to resolve this? I never had that find my iPhone app, and when I called my phone today it was turned off. I also don't want to start randomly accusing my teammates. There haven't been any ads posted on Kijiji for 16 gb black iPhone 4S' locked to Telus, either.

There's a shitload of ads on Kijiji, especially the the phones section(tried selling my own Xperia phone and gets bumped back in a few hours). I assume you live in like Calgary or Edmonton, probably Vancouver or somewhere in BC. Anyways, nothing you can really do here, next time you gotta install software like "Find my iPhone" or whatever. Or just report it stolen to the police or something, or call Telus yourself and tell them that it was stolen, and if you have your iPhone box, you might still have your IMEI number, and they might be able to block that phone from making texts or calls. Best of luck, anyhow.

Put up some posters and offer a reward for it. If it has a passcode on it, chances are they haven't got in to it yet. Think about it, a phone full of someone elses stuff you can't use or a handful of cash on the spot for doing a 'good deed', it usually gets them back.

    No problem, Calgary I'm guessing.

He said he didn't have any tracking software on it.

I doubt anyone will return it for a reward. Anyways, if it did have a pass code on it, people can just restore the iPhone and it'll be back to normal and all his shit will be deleted. That's the problem, and if it doesn't, some people will restore it anyways deleting all tracking software and what not.

You'd be surprised. If it's someone on his team they may feel guilty and just say they found it in the changing rooms and claim the reward.

Report it stolen to the police and apple. I read somewhere that they are able to see where it is next time it is plugged into a computer with itunes.

Alright, so here's what I'm looking at now. There's this guy on my team, lets call him Joe, who is some new guy to the team this year. I'm not very familiar with him, and I've only talked to him a few times. Guy is kind of dumb, and had gotten kicked off the team mid season for being caught with 3 grams of marijuana on a game day. He was later let back on the team however.

Anyway, today the guy posted a Facebook status asking for numbers saying he got a new phone, and when someone asked him what kind of phone was it, he just replied saying his old phone had suddenly stopped working, and it was just a temporary phone.

What are the chances that this guy might have stolen it? I'm honestly contemplating just straight up confronting him, and kicking his shit in.

But if they don't wanna look bad, they wouldn't give it back. I'm sure the guy can have a bigger reward by having it sold.

Police can track phones regardless of whether it's connected to iTunes via GPS.

When you bump into him, just stir up a conversation and be like "Hey, saw on Facebook that you were asking for numbers, you want mine bro? Well here, save it on your phone yo". Or something like that, and just force him to whip out his phone and save it. If it's your iPhone, take it and straight smack him in the face and walk out.

Try to avoid physical contact, wouldn't want this whole thing to backfire and screw you over because you punched a pothead in the face and cracked his skull, worse yet, you may have even given him permanent brain damage. Just be like, "dude that's my phone, you stole it from the locker room when I broke my ankle, if you hand it over we can forget this whole thing happened." If he doesn't, well then. . its up to you :)

Apparently the iPhone 4S comes with findmyiphone pre-installed. All you need to do is log into iCloud on your computer and you should have the option to track the phone, wipe it etc. My dad had his stolen and that's how I found that out. Might not work for you but it's worth a try. Good luck!

Yeah I tried that, it couldn't find anything on iCloud. real shitty :(

Honestly it'd be pretty hard to crack a guys skull from a punch, unless he falls backwards and hits his head on something.

Besides, "Joe" posted a picture of himself taking a pic in the mirror.
    Here's (part of) the picture:

The phone looks too long and slim to be an iPhone 4S, and plus from the picture it looks white. It could just be a case however, and just the way the photo's taken.

    What do you guys think?

Thanks bud, so far nothing. My coach sent a text to everyone on the team saying just return the phone, no questions asked, etc. Hopefully whoever took will quit being a fuckface and return it.

I also called my service provider and they blacklisted the phone so it cannot be used on Telus any longer (if I recover the phone, I'll have to go to a Telus store to verify that I'm the original owner and whatnot to get it un-blacklisted), so unless they manage to unlock it, it's pretty much unusable. I had the latest iOS update on it though, so maybe there's no way to even unlock it yet. We'll see.

I'll report back here if anything changes.

that phones an i5 i think? best thing to do is to just ask your best mates in the team, hey did you see anyone pick up my phone by accident or something along those lines, i had my iphone stolen at a party a couple weeks ago, as did freakyhair idk why people steal them because they're pretty useless once you've blocked them, my phones screen was cracked and water damaged so you wouldn't even be able to sell it to those recycling companies.

my advice is to just ask about, don't accuse people without proof though, if nothing turns up move on with your life, no point in getting violent with people and risking suspension/expulsion

I thought it looked like on iPhone 5, too. I'm pretty much losing hope with it, especially if nothing turns up this week, I'll have to just get a new phone. My brother might be getting an iPhone 5 for his 18th birthday this Wednesday, so then it's very well possible I could just get his iPhone 4S he currently has.

I remember in grade 9 our teacher had her phone stolen by a kid in our class, and she called up apple and gave them somthing (cant remember what) and it would come up with all the calls that have been placed, even after it had been restored, so if he has used the phone you may be able to see who he has called and work it out that way

I wouldn't plan on seeing the phone ever again personally. Just remember next time you get a phone that you should put the find my iphone/android on it as those are two invaluable resources, it will help you find your phone fast too if you just left it at your buddy's place.

This. I honestly use the Find My iPhoen app an excessive amount, like just when I can't be bothered searching for it, I go onto iCloud and make it play a sound. It works every time. I have yet to use it because it's actually lost or stolen, but I would definitely want it on my phone if that did happen.
