So i took my GED test today, and i just got an email saying i passed!

I'm very happy that i am finally done with school (until i go to college) but still i feel like i'v finally done something and made it!

I don't think it's going to hit me untill i get my diploma in the mail from the Department of Education.

    Anyways.

Is there anything that's like "you've passed with 90%" or any of that stuff or is it just pass/fail?

I dropped out of school last school year. I couldn't pass Grade 10 Science, tried 4 times including summer school. I have really bad ADD/ADHD and the ADHD clinic in my city didn't help me for shit, cause they so claimed that they didn't have a strong enough case. So I just dropped out, and I'm looking for a job now. My parents are getting a bit irritated. But on topic, GED's are important in America, so is College degrees and so on. In Canada, I don't really think it's needed.

Get your GED, find a career path you like, and begin going to community college to study it.

It's very doable, and if you find something you actually like then your ADD will be much more manageable.

I am currently a senior in high school, and I have had shitty grades every year since middle school. Today I got a report card in the mail, and I made high honors. The difference this year is that I am taking all business classes, which is my passion, and so it is a lot easier to concentrate and learn it.

Well you take the test, and then whatever sections you fail, you re-take untill you can pass them...but i passed them all my 1st go! :D

Yeah i have adhd also and i just coudnt stay focused in school, i spent 60 hours preparing for the ged and i feel like i have learned more in 60 hours than i have in 12 years of school.

I did not pass 1 math class in 4 years of highschool, and on the GED my math was my strong point.

EDIT: and my school pushes students away from taking the GED no matter what the case being, and it's wrong imo.

Nice man. I got my GED last year so I definitely know the feeling. :D

I thought the test was more intimidating in theory than it actually was tbh.

No, here's the problem with my ADD/ADHD, the doctors who reviewed me said they didn't have a strong enough case to prescribe meds, even though I've tried Ritalin before(it helped). What actually happens when I try to concentrate is that I listen to the teacher, and no more than 5 minutes, I'll doze off thinking about something else, since I can't concentrate. No matter what, I can't concentrate on the teacher, or keep concentrating on whatever they're saying. I simply can't concentrate, AT ALL, I swear, I do try. I mean, I sit still and all that and not bother anyone, but still can't concentrate on the teacher. That's why I dropped out, FAILED GRADE 10 SCIENCE FOUR TIMES! It's embarrassing, so I quit now.

Yo dude, generally most teachers would pass you if you attend class everyday and do the work. I did all my work, unfortunately it was mostly all wrong. Paid $200 for summer school and flunked, hardcore(32%).

That's because the school (assuming you go to a public school) loses government money if you don't attend. The administration still runs the school as if it's a business, because they have to in order to stay funded from the government.
It completely blows that they don't care about you or your career path or your academic/personal problems in general.

Went from public to private, x10. Actually felt like I had a purpose, was motivated to study because I actually wanted to learn since my teachers wanted to help me succeed and attend college/university.

Either way, gratz on passing. Go purpose your career and make them racks on racks.

yeah i know but if there is a kid in school, with (no offence) neo's or my problem, or maybe they get treated like shit at school, and it is mentally and physically wrong for them to be in school, they should not try and keep them there.

I learned more in my ged prep than i did in 12 years of school, and it pisses me off at how shitty my education has been in the last 12 years, and i'm hoping i don't do shit in college because of it.

I got a really good education in the public school system. 90% of my teachers were excellent, but I applied myself, took advanced classes, and didn't bull shit around. Generally if you're in advanced classes you get an all around better atmosphere for learning because all of the troublemaker kids and kids that just don't care about school or are just lazy won't take them so the classes are a lot more focused on learning.

I came out of high school with 20+ college credit hours already, so it was almost like being in my third year of college.

No offense, but I believe that a lot of people use ADD/ADHD as an excuse.

No offence taken at all, and i don't even use it as an excuse, my school district just sucks, and has very poor education system, and it's just sad that now i have my GED, and i still really don't feel like i came out of anything with anymore knowledge than i knew before.

I dont know exactly how to explain it :p

I won't be getting my highschool diploma until 2014 at the earliest, might be graduating a year early. Congratulations! I wish you luck in your future endeavors.

Third year of college? Do you mean second year?

And ya, I ended up graduating with 22 college credit hours.

Also, in response to the person who asked, you get a report on how you did in each section. There are several sections (writing, reading, mathematics, science, and social studies). Each section is scored similarly to the GED (highest score is 800). I believe you need a 450 to pass, but this might vary from state to state.

I took the CHSPE (Google it, it's the GED but less subjects & it's a legal diploma) in October and just found out I passed. So I know the good feeling there. But congrats!

Tbh the public school system sucks, AP classes aside (I've seen some really good AP teachers). Private is a lot better.
