when I went past 4.6ghz the cpu required 1.4v, almost 1.5v for 4.8 but the temps where still max 80 celcius. decided to stay at 4.6ghz 1.33v

Admittedly my pc is my first ever build but there are wires everywhere -.-

Wire management is definitely a skill that takes a lot of patience. I spent longer than i care to admit working on the wiring on my build when i upgraded and even then it looks a little..... Meh.

 

I just wish I had the nerve to commit to building one. It would take quite a bit of research on my part, but I have promised myself that I won't buy another factory PC when I need to replace this one. I just don't know where to start. reading specs for different cards seems random to me. something will have what looks to me - better specs - but people will say it doesn't perform as well as other cards with lower numbers. ><

Cause it's $500 and performs better than the best gtx 680 out (msi 680 lightning), plus the extra 1gb memory + bandwidth is nice to have.

normally in bf3 even a gtx 670 (my previous card) beats an ordinary 7970, but the matrix 7970 platinum beats the gtx 680 lightning by %10

+ i just started playing dayz and the game is more amd optimized, i'll be able to run it maxed at around 100 fps

 

How sure are you about that and if you got this info from a site link me there.

well for some reason changing the voltage on the card doesn't do anything, going to return it and buy a gtx 680 lightning tomorrow. The only overclocking software that works with the matrix card is asus gpu tweak (a peice of shit anyway) and the card won't oc any higher than 1175mhz for me since the voltage seems to be locked.

Told you the MSI Lightning or some other 680's are better.
Anyways, you'll be happier with the MSI one

 

Nice job I never have the patience for cable management and just stuff all the wires in lol

 

Was able to overclock the card to 1385mhz core/3305mhz memory.. so close to dat 1.4ghz. :nuts:

 

The MSI? That's ridiculous!
