New PC Build/Upgrade

Doing some changes to my build, and will post some progress pics of the changes.


Upgrading from 1366 to 2011 socket CPU (Core i7 970 Gulftown [hexacore 3.2GHz CPU] to Core i7 3820 [Quad Core 3.6 GHz Sandybridge])

Planning on overclocking as much as I can, and knowing sandybridges, I'll probably be able to hit 4.5GHz or better.

Also upgraded Mobo to the Asus Rampage Extreme IV from the Rampage III.

Here's pic of the Mobo in the chassis, as well as a bit of cable management (Working on making it look better this time around. Looked like shit on my last build)

Currently waiting on my CPU cooling as well as my new RAM to get here so that I can finish the build. Also upgraded my GPU's recently from 2x 480GTX's to 2x 670GTX's.

 

Dayumm, what do you plan to do that needs so much processor power??

I would've gone with i7 3770k, better IMO, yeah the 3820 has more cache than 3770k.
Not really sure if the 3820 overclocks that good.. the 3930k is the best choice with the LGA 2011.

 

3820 can still be overclocked, and is comparible to the 3770k in performance. By getting the 3820 he's able to upgrade cpus in the future without having to buy another motherboard, nice build

 

i overclocked my cpu, its locked to 4.3 but theres ways around it. you just need to increase the BLK.

not much to upgrade it to tho.


nice build as always. wish i had the money to get a rig like that. still running 1156 rofl.

 

I've cleaned up the wiring a bit and completed the build. Will try and get pictures posted later today after work . I have taken them already, just need to take the time to upload them and post Em.
