So I got an underage fine in NJ at the end of the summer and I went to court and everything, I paid $100 of the fine. And then I had a month to pay the rest or I'll get a warrant. I didn't pay it and now I got something in the mail today saying I have til next week to pay or there will be a warrant out for my arrest.

My issue is that I don't have the money. I could pay by Christmas forsure. I live in Pennslyvania so do you think they will do anything to me until then? All my friends say they won't do anything at all since I live in an another state. My one friend says he still has a warrant out from last year and he went back to NJ and nothing even happened to him. Should I no worry? Will they add to the payment I owe? Thanks

Get in contact with them. Tell them about your situation of you not having the money. Here in Oregon they were flexible with me and set up a payment plan, and I just paid a little amount each month.

If you do as stated above they will probably give you time. However if you fail to pay it they will send the warrant to where you live now, and you will be charged there.

Evading a warrant is definitely not the way to go, unless you wish to appear on dog the bounty hunter.

Although I don't know much about US law, I'd never recommend somebody just ignore them. They could get you some time down the line when you've forgotten about it. It's best dealing with them as soon as possible.

This. I went up a 3 days before mine was due (Well actually like 7 days late because I received that letter but it told me I had 10 days) and I got extended a whole month and they were going to allow me to pay bi-weekly payments but I knew I'd have the money so I just paid it in full about half a month later.

I wouldn't ignore it, you could be out one day and then get arrested for having a warrant against you and you could be doing something important and it will bite you in the ass.

But even with my offence being in anther state do you think they still can do anything? I live in another state. My friends tell the police won't do anything just because of that.

Dont take the chance, like the previous posters suggested, try to talk out a deal to pay by week or by month. Have you ever seen the show "I Almost Got Away with It", that shit is scary and that warrant can turn into a big problem.

If you ever want a job in the future that requires you not to have a criminal record I suggest paying it.
If you'd prefer to walk in McDonalds or something, then let it slide and perhaps take a trip to prison next time you visit or pass through that state.

But do you really want to have to go back later and try to get warrant evading esponged from your record? It would be much easier to just contact the court and explain to them. They're going to be lenient with you almost assuredly, unless you already have a long history of offenses.

I plan on paying in next month, all I want I'm worrying about is if they will do something now. I do plan calling them tomorrow though. And no this is my first offence.

Na I don't think they would be looking for you. Just don't get pulled over or do anything stupid where they still have your warrant on file and you will be alright.

An under-aged fine, could you not ask your parents or siblings, if any, to give you hand?
If this is one of those cases where your parents are not aware that you've been issued a warrant/fine, then I'd suggest to get in contact with them and explain your situation. You can probably request an extension on the payment due date since you're under-age.
