You all really need to do a better job on the imposter thing. Some kid named viou scammed me for 600m because apparently He went inactive for over a year and on his page it didn't say anything about it. So I got scammed for 600m.

I even explained to you via PM; you need to match the skype/msn to whom you were talking to, and compare it to the details listed on Vious thread. It's not anyone's fault, but yours. You need to be vigilant.

Damn, I'm sorry to hear you got scammed :(. On sythe, we can't really do much about imposters, unless you have they sythe.org profiles as well as proof that the imposter msn/skype is the same person on sythe.org. In that case, we appreciate a scam report with full proof, and we will ban the user.

To prevent imposter scams, it is a norm for users to private message each other before trading - just to make sure you're talking to the real sythe user. For example, if I was on my msn ([email protected]) and trading you ("[email protected]"), I might PM you with:

Always requesting a proper PM before trading with a user is the best way to ensure you're not talking with an imposter. I hope that you don't get scammed again, and sorry for your loss.

So if you're accepting responsibility anyway, what measures do you suggest we take? As others have said, it's down to you to be vigilant - we put warnings and guides up everywhere!

As stated above, there's not much we can do short of holding your hand through every market transaction. That doesn't mean we're not refusing to help where we can, however. http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=1444829 for example is just one way I'm hoping to stamp out impostors and their scamming.

A simple PM will save you a lot more time than comparing addresses, not to mention it's a lot more reliable. No reputable trader on Sythe will refuse a PM.

I don't ever refuse to pm someone if they ask. I even suggest it when I do a trade. In a nutshell we can't really do anything unless the msn matches a profile. Partner.
