    Skype, Warning sticky.

The whole of the Runescape Gold Selling section is plagued with replies on every thread by the majority of the users spamming 'PM me your skype'. Although there is nothing wrong with that reply per say, it's common knowledge for market users that Skype is the easiest thing to impersonate someone one. In-fact, if you're not a frequent trader, I can guarantee they would fall for that impersonation, opposed to more obvious ones such as MSN/Emails, etc.

Whenever I attempt to buy something, I prefer to PM the person directly, to avoid people impersonating me via skype/msn etc. I also include in the PM, general tips and warnings, in particular, 'watch out for Skype impersonators'.

The replies I receive after a few hours, the majority say they have been scammed by some reputable user. I ask them who, and ask them how they came in contact. The answer is always Skype, and they are always unaware of the view profile/skype name difference.

TL;DR: Make a sticky stating how god damn easy it is to impersonate someone on skype, and how to differentiate between the actual Skype name, and the display name.

You can change display name of MSN but I see where you're coming from. Just PMing users confirming they're talking to them on Skype is going to work the best tbh.

Most of the new traders simply post on reputable dealers buying form, which states for a skype/msn. Impersonators add them, and bang, they get scammed.

Not everyone understands the use of a PM.

First of all, I dont see how a topic like this requires a bump, unless one needs the post count.

second of all, All the major buyers and sellers have "ASK FOR A PM". There is a already a stick on how to trade and how Pms are important to ask and send.

You cant baby sit everyone that wishes to sell gold or trade on Sythe. If you think thru a trade and use your IQ, it is impossible to get scammed unless you accept stolen paypal money.

Most of the new traders who come here to simply sell RSGP as a one time thing, have no idea about the above. They are new, unsuspecting, and fall for it.

I'm in all favor of this. It seems like Skype is the new thing scammers use to scam and impersonate. The amount of users scammed through this is just absurd when compared when it was being done on MSN.

I imagine a warning sticky would prevent a lot of it.

I'm all for this, it's all too easy for newcomers to fall victim to imposters like this. It should also make mention of MSN impostering though.

Don't see why this shouldn't be implemented, it would just help users to avoid getting scammed. Full support .

Support, this may help prevent more victims; you also know that many newcomers don't even bother to ready rules/stickies.
