Doesn't sound natural. Seems like your dragging your words to fit the slow beat. Try mix up your lyrics aswell, i listened to it for 30 seconds and just heard AABB rhyming. Putting more emotion and changing the rhyming pattern will also stop it from sounding monotoned and make it more interesting.

I thought you wrecked this guy with this little verse, would like to hear more stuff from you with a better mic and not sounding so strained i think if you keep at it you will feel more comfortable with your flow and your shit will sound better all you need is practice . You have some pretty good lyrical skills but i would prefer to hear more metaphors and word play (but thats just the type of shit im into). Once again you wrecked the silk trader IMO just wanted to pop in and say that and i wanna hear more out of you lol.

Too many people are overly concerned with literally rhyming every verse and get overly carried away with it and your comfort in not feeling the need to do that with every line (mainly in this little verse) kinda shows to me your a better writer than the other jokers in that thread who only think about their lyrics with the last word they fall on

 

In the past I thought lyrical ability alone was enough, however, as I've matured (I'm still only 18) I've realized that it's as much about the delivery as it is the lyricism. I've been seriously writing for about 2 years. I can look back and see how I've evolved. I've been practicing, and after about a month I'm going to release a couple more tracks that I've worked on. Right now I'm just busy with my final exams.

P.S battle rap was kind of what brought me into rap music. I'm very comfortable in that lol. I'm going to try getting into my local rap battle scene once I finish my finals.

Hey dude, I record songs as well, and I can honestly tell you - USB mics suck donkey nuts (As you already knew though).

There's plenty of reasons why an audio interface is essential for serious recording, but I think the best reason alone is the fact that quality microphones require xlr that go through interfaces and ultimately into your computer.

Alternatively a lot of people like to use keyboards/midi/synths in their songs and an audio interface is also required for that.

I'd highly suggest you drop that and look into buying a bundle pack to start and build from there. I used to use/still own this pretty sweet package I picked up at a guitar center:

I can guarantee that you'll notice that huge difference that it brings, I've recorded countless full-length songs on that, and I usually mic both my vocals and my guitar (If I'm using an acoustic). The microphone that it comes with it "decent", but if you really want it to sound quality, look into a cheap condenser mic, I personally recommend this one: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-...st51-large-diaphragm-fet-condenser-microphone (This one seems to mic good on both acoustic instruments and vocals)

On another note, if you live in the US I wouldn't mind selling you my old equipment as I don't really use it anymore, and if I got back into recording anytime soon, I'd probably upgrade anyway.

 

You have good rhymes, keep practicing. Try to stay original, don't float towards or act like anybody else, original is always better than that fake shit these new black rappers produce.

 

Delivery:
Some of the flow seems forced 1-2 parts. There's awkward pauses where words should fill in, so I'd definitely work on that (lyrical-wise). Otherwise that's sexy
As for the rapping, it seems monotone. Just try and put a little bit of character in it.

lyrics are actually quite good in my opinion though they could use a little tweaking so they flow better as others said. for example " but theres so much hard work to get there, so many levels" kinda sketches me on it try to use different words with the same meanings

also the melody seems a little too weak for the song doesn't produce enough emotion to put a follow through on your lyrics maybe have someone here on sythe or if you know any musicians irl help you build off of it. But its a good start man you should make a whole song out of this and I don't generally care for rap.
