What exactly is EoC?

I know it's Evolution of combat, I tried the beta and read some articles and I still don't really understand what is going on. Can someone sum it up real simple and quick..like how are skills going to be affected, why are people quitting etc..

 

People are supposedly quitting because they hate change for some weird reason. Others are merely saying they are quitting as they are like sheep and don't have brains to think for themselves. The beta basically replaces special attacks and what-not with the action bar and there are abilities and all this other stuff to use instead. Skilling will be positively effected as you can task certain actions to be done on the action bar such as dropping iron or something similar.

People hate it cos they're removing special attacks so claws and other weps will be classed as useless now, plus hp, prayer and summoning wont affect combat level so pures who have 99hp will be the same combat level as a pure with 10 hp (if obv they have same combat level in wildy)

People are quitting because Runescape, unlike other RPG's such as WoW, is renown for it's simplicity of gameplay. By changing how combat works and adding abilities, you're pretty much taking away what made Runescape, well, Runescape. The people who are quitting are mostly veteran players, who feel let down by the companies disregard for it's older, veteran players by redesigning basically everything in game and adding so much content at once. JaGeX, and I am aware they are run by American investors now, are just jumping on the bandwagon to try and be like every other game out there, it's sad really.

 

Agreed. Have played since 2004 on and off and what apealed to me was the simplicity of Runescape. The ability to play on your browser, not having to install anything to play and the simple straight forward combat style. It's a very relaxing/afking type of game. I like to relax to Runescape not have to concentrate and think about it. If I wanted to concentrate/think I would just go study or play Xbox or something.

 

We basically wanted rs back to normal before EoC like old old runescape. Now with EoC it basically drew the line so many are going to quit. Jagex wont simply take it out as they've probably invested a lot into it.
