    Car Related Help Please

I know little about cars, but I am interested in this 2002 Holden Berlina Sedan 5.7ltr V8
Unfortunately it has had a crash so they are selling it for $3000, Im wondering what the estimated cost would be to fix it by just looking at the pictures I can provide to you :)

This is their comments: VY berlina, selling as whole car, NOT parting off, motor and gearbox just had service, nothing wrong with them at all. still runs strong. damage to drivers side rear door, rear quater, rear bumber and maybe chassis. no other damage on car other that whats shown in the picture. mainly cosmitic damage.

Any help at all would be much appreciated, I am very interested to buy it and hopefully end out fixing it long-term possibly as I am in no rush. Cheers :)

Considering you can't test drive it at all, it's a bad call.

^^ Or can you? First pic looks like it's just in the ground.

If you get it and fix it though - nice car. Love V8 - how many miles does it have?

You will be spending 3 grand+ on that damage, plus it could have wrecked the frame making it unsafe to drive.

No no no no no no no no

That rear end damage could mean a lot more than you think underneath (more parts are guaranteed to be broken than you think). It's no where near worth $3k in that condition. I'd offer $1k-$1.5k MAX, and that's only if you REALLY want it.

Prolly end up costing more than the car would be worth used with 180k miles on it.

If it had less miles, I would go for it.

But not in the current state, need a new door, new trunk, undercarriage is probably damaged. Frame is bent, axel might be broken. Plus, who knows what weather damage/interior damage has occurred. Regardless of the tarp being on it, there's going to be some interior damage. Plus, animals have probably been living underneath it so there could be wires and plastic parts that have been chewed through.

Lot more damage than meets the eye. Plus, 180k miles on top of that, I would say no.

Best off taking the pics to a mechanic or Honda dealership and ask for their opinion.

New airbags, new door, paint, frame is probably bent, i would be surprised if the rear indipendant suspension was perfectly fine. None of thr body panels are going to fit up right, so your going to have to move them all back. The floor inside the car wherenit was hit is probably all bent up, so expect to tear the carpet out of there and cut out that metal, and have new sheetmetal welded back in, and.then buy new carpet. Also, most likely the seat is fucked, and those are expensive too, soo i wouldnt.

Don't do it. That thing is literally going to be nothing but headaches for you. Especially if you meant 180k miles, because that is a pretty absurd amount of miles. If you mean kilometers, then still, that's quite a high amount for a sedan, so even if you do get it fixed up, you'll almost for sure run into a ton more problems that's just going to cost more and more.

I could almost guarantee that the frame is bent, which would be the main cause of your problems. I mean, from just seeing the exterior, if you could cop a new door and a rear quarter panel and a bumper, maybe a new paint job, it wouldnt look so cheeched cosmetically. Hell just that could add up to a few thousand bucks right there.

Having a 350 V8 would be sweet, but this is definitely not a car you want to purchase.

I'd frankly never go for a broken car and fix it up as you actually have no idea of how much is broken and even when you fix it, if it will run as smoothly as it did before. I'd personally say not to go for it.

    don't buy it.
2002 and 180k, is the saving from the damage even worth it??? not to mention problems down the raod. Once a car has been in a crash it is more prone to parts breaking/failing

I would talk them down in price $3000 is way to much for a car that has been in an accident.

Wayyyy too many miles and way too much damage. Frame will need to be repaired, sitting without running always does damage. Cosmetic damage/paint is way more costly than usually anticipated, and with 180k miles there's no point to even consider it. Although I do like the rims

Just don't buy it. It's gonna hit you hard in the pocket (over 5k worth)? Why not just buy a commodore for the same price without the damage?

The more I look at the picture, I wouldn't even use it as a track car. You never know what else may have been affected when it took that hit.

If its heavily discounted, there is always a reason, and not always an obvious one some as the cosmetic damage (although that will be the most obvious in this case)

The panels (rear boot/wing/bumper/door/glass) won't be cheap, but then it might have knocked the tracking out, ruined the suspension bushes, and even if it was really bad it could have knocked the full track rod end out of the front wheels if it was hit with force. Don't touch it.
