    Palestinian Refugees

Can a Palestinian, Muslim, or someone who is well taught on the subject answer some questions on the Palestinian refugees?

Why do the Palestinian people get special status? They are the only people who have a special refugee status. The UNHRC is the committee for refugees and defines a refugee as someone displaced from their home to another place (refugee camp) but this status does not apply to their offspring. The UNRWA is a special committee with the backing of the 22 Arab nations that defines the Palestinian refugees as the original refugees (people who left Israel due to the independence war) and their offspring.

So why does America pay 135 million dollars per year to UNRWA for a group of people that aren't even refugees? And the people should have assimilated too. 750,000 Palestinian people became refugees in 1948/9 while 800,000 Arab-Jews became refugees too. So if Israel assimilated these 800,000 refugees why is their a Palestinian refugee problem? Seems like its just a way to get rid of Israel...

You clearly have never been there. I live in Israel. Israel is a great country. It's one of the most amazing countries. It is the only free country in the Middle East. To our north people are being murdered by their own people in Syria and Lebanon. In Egypt the country is going to madness. In Gaza they fire rockets at schools and towns.

There isn't anything wrong with Israel except for the Palestinians who want to kill all the Jews.

Sorry, I misspoke. I am only talking about the Hamas activists who live in Gaza and places in area A in the West Bank. I was in Barta'a earlier this year which is in the West Bank (Area B) and the Palestinians there are very nice people.

I think it is unfair to say that the zionists have come illegally since they have been purchasing land since the time of the Ottomans. Tel-Aviv was a sand dune that was bought from the Ottomans. The Jews bought most of their land from the Arabs and also got a lot after 1948 when many of the Palestinians were told to flee due to the war. These Palestinians thought they were leaving just so the Israelis would be wiped out but then when Israel won they did not get their homes back and thus refugees were created.

There isn't anything illegal. The Palestinians never had a land. There wasn't a Palestinian people until 1949. Before WWI the land was under the Ottomans, then the British, then it was Israel and the West Bank was Jordan. Now it's Israel. So why is anyone angry?

I hate getting all political on this one but simply
-Palestinians never owned themselves, and for most of history didn't identify as Palestinians. For example during the Islamic Empire someone from the area would identify as for example a member of Damascene state in the city of Acre under the Caliph that reigned at the time.
At any point in history they were ruled by the Persian Empire, Islamic Empire, Ottoman Empire, or British Empire. Beyond that, in 1948 when the British decided to leave Israel, they actually owned the entire country, and therefore got to do what ever they wished. As such they decided to split the land in a particular way and it didn't work out since the surrounding Arabs simply attacked Israel
Following wars caused most of the Palestinian refugees to escape out of Israeli territory but that was nearly 50 years ago and it's not logistically and financially possible to turn the clock back and hand it all over again
Now until not too long ago Palestinians were allowed to enter Israel quite freely - they were trusted to be able to manage themselves and proved themselves untrustworthy. Until recently using the bus (namely line 19 was rather suicidal) or visiting the market in Jerusalem was considered unsafe because it was likely you would get hurt. In effect they went and showed that they can't be trusted and as such were closed off, which hurt their economy since many were no longer able to work.
On top of all that certain groups thought it would be a good idea to start settling the Palestinian territories after 1967 - which is a bad idea since it was impossible to tell what would be done with the area in the future. This is the main reason it's impractical to create a Palestinian state since it requires dealing with Israeli refugees and property damages. Beyond that if a full UN state is created it would simply be able to strategically target any point in the country with cheap rockets. It's not fun to live in a country where no matter where you go, an alarm sounds and you have exactly 15 seconds to escape before you get blown to bits. Currently Arab citizens get all the same rights as Jewish ones and the main issue is with people who have proven themselves to be untrustworthy as a whole and impossible to work with. In effect I see it as locking an unruly toddler in their room since you can't let them into the house without them ruining something expensive. Palestinians have shown themselves to not be able to be trusted with Citizenship or with Statehood and giving them such abilities is effectively saying that complete rights for Palestinians - they already get quite a few - are more important than the lives of Israeli citizens who in the end are the taxpayers - for some fucking huge taxes too. I'd love to give Palestinains rights, it's very expensive to maintain the occupation and I'd rather that money go to something else, but I value my life and my family's lives more than I value freedom of movement and the right to bear arms.

Rocket attacks on the city you live in probably doesn't make you think "Wow let's give them a state"...
