Hey how does being a donator..

Hey how does being a donator make u much less a threat to scamming I'm fairly new so please don't set me a blaze with harsh comments on my what may be ignorance but I was thing what if I get into a trade <50$ usd just because a guys has a couple of vouches and he's gave 10$ how do I know he not waiting to get a big some on one of us good ole people that enjoy playing the game but just don't have the time to waste to earn the things we want the "legal way"

Being a donor doesn't necessarily make you less of a threat when it comes to scamming. I've seen many donors be banned because they use their donor status as a way to seem more "trusted." It does give you the option to show it off however, and show commitment to the community itself. If you're thinking about being a donor, do it for the life of the site and not to try and boost your popularity.

 

I honestly couldn't read some of your thread (no offense) but I think I get the gist of it.

Basically people presume that someone wouldn't scam for less than they would have donated as that would mean they would have "lost" from their donation if you know what I mean.

 

I guess I could trust you with a 4 dollar trade.

And @quell I was just asking to make myself safe for trades as I have been scammed on this site within less than 48 hours of joining by a "donor" I didn't keep proof so I can't really mention name just watch out

 

perhaps it just wouldnt make sense for someone who donated 25 dollars to scam 24

 

Might i first suggest that as you are knew here, you should try and make sure you punctuation your sentences and make sure they flow normally because it took me 3 reads to understand what you are saying.

Donators doesnt symbolise trustworthiness and shoudlnt, we've seen in the past some dude donate $200 and scam someone out of billions and he made up for it. Most people donate just for the perks and its not own choice whether you do or not.

 

Donor status should be just one of many factors you use in a decision of whether or not to trust someone, it should not be the only factor

 

if your in doubt just do the trade by increments or do not trade with the person at all if you dont trust him

OT: Being a donor symbolizes no trust at all. Someone can donate $500, and then bam, scam $1000 worth. Donations give you perks though, and also, show some dedication toward the community. So in a way, it can show that they'll be less likely unless they're like "Hey guys I'm new to Sythe, anyways, here's a $500 donation!". Overall though, there's no "trust rank" in donating.

This. When trading for an amount less than what they donated for, they will most likely honour the trade.

 

Donating makes you more trusted cause it shows that you aren't here to scam, which is why you invested into the website. But theres some people that donate to scam a larger amount than they donated for, which is what you should look out for. If someone barely has any vouches but $25 donator you should never do a trade with them for above their donation amount.

 

A donation status does not necessarily mean you are trusted, donating is helping out the site but I have noticed some people only donate for the rank of a donater, but as with every other user you should be cautious with every trade you do.

Not really.. I think the name was Luc something thats the only letters I remember. He had a shit ton of vouches from selling names etc. Recovered them all back, and is banned. But like i said I cant remember the exact name or anything.

So No, Donation doesn't mean much besides the fact you contributed to the site .. Sure alot of people that have donated are still here today, but theres alot that isnt. Now vouches, sure. Some people Like grave, bsgp, etc Are legit.

Moral of the story. You don't need to trust anyone with a donation rank,
especially if the intent of scamming is there. Do your homework, figure out
if the guy is legit, or if say the account you are purchasing(example), check it out. Ask people. You know.

 

The theory is that someone will not scam more than what their donation rank is worth. This is proven false and has been proven many times on this site. Don't think of donations as a symbol of trust, think of them as a symbol of respect to this great site. Even if the user is banned, the donation is not returned and is profitable to the forum. A donation rank can be acquired within seconds, if you're wealthy enough; Whereas, in a comparison to vouches, which are earned over time and show quality proof of each trade, how it is performed and what it is worth.

Using common sense and personal experience will tell you scammers will earn any kind of quick respect to steal something in the end, ultimately getting banned to create a new account. Donations can be made quickly, but vouches take a longer period of time actually being a legitimate user. Therefore, to think you can trust a user because they paid for a simple donation rank does not make sense.

 

This is true, this should be beneficial for the newcomers.
