Working on re-mastering my drawing skills, and decided to start with pixel drawing, so here's what I have so far. She doesn't have a head yet, I made the canvas too small, but I'll update when I get there

What brushes are you using? Default hard and soft round brushes?

All hard round brushes, I'm changing the opacity of the brush in order to get overlaying colors

You should try the 23px default chalk brush. It's my favorite brush to use and it gives a nice painterly feel if you use flow and opacity.

I like it so far. I'd like the lines a little tighter, but it might not be what you're going for.

I don't know what I'm going for yet, this is an entirely new deal for me, I've never tried this style of drawing. The only thing I've ever done has been pencil sketches and smudge shading with physical medium. I bought a graphics pad like 2 years ago and never used it so I decided to play around with it and see if I like what I can make. I like it so far, so this will be what I work on for the next few months.

All criticism is highly welcome, I'm just in the process of nailing down features I like and dislike, so I agree the brushes are too heavy. I think I'll make the brush size larger and decrease the opacity a bit. It should clean up the edges so there's not as much stray lines &c.

The thing is, it's hard to put a px size on the brushes since I'm running Pen Pressure, so the size of the brush is determined how hard I push on the pen

I"m curious to see how this'll turn out since I've just started using my tablet some more a few weeks ago, but I can't seem to stay in a creative mood long enough to get much done, so it takes ages to complete anything.
I've found the folks at deviant art have a shitload of tutorials about this that get the whole color blending idea down, which is really what matters.
You seem to be doing pretty well though, and you have good color choice and you can actually draw. Once you polish it up some it should be quite nice :)

I'll have to look into that, I definitely have no concept or skill of color blending as it stands, so I need to look into that.

Drawing on the computer takes a lot of the stress out of it since it's easy to erase and layer to reduce irreversible mistakes etc. It's actually really fun

It is so much easier. It is a lot cheaper than slopping expensive paints around.

It's fun, but sadly you still need to have some drawing skill in real life. There's still a pretty large amount of stuff I can't do because I have no idea how to draw it and it just fucks up when I try.

I'm being entirely serious when I say that you should work on the breast area. The perspective doesn't seem right.

I know you're being serious because it's bothered me too. The boob reminds me of the children's drawings where they have people standing literally ON the horizon, that's one this that throws me off is that it's just sitting on the very edge of the torso... It looked normal before I decided to put a cover on her breasts, the blue strip of fabric, but I messed up on the shading. Additionally, it's harder to visualize the curve of the spine too, since there's less detail on the back. I could emphasize the shading on the small of her back to give the impression of it twisting... that might help. If worse comes to worse, I could either erase the whole torso, or just start over with a new drawing and call this one a first attempt

Jiwi, it was with a tablet

That's quite an appropriate comparison you have there with the children's drawing (of how it's sitting precariously on the edge - not that it's a children's drawing).

I think the problem is that it appears to be sitting too high - the visible boob almost looks as if it's attached to the neck. Although the shading that you said you'd add would help that.

I think it'd be a shame if you had to scratch it, it's quite nice.
