What has happened....

Wow I remember playing this game about grade 4, wake up in the morning before school and rush to get ready so I could play on runescape for 10minutes before i leave. Then grade 7 I thought it was so nerdy for me to play but really who was actually going to care haha, I miss these days so much. I quit in June but for some reason I always want to read these forums, but honestly what is happening to this game. I want to be young again and have fun on runescape, holy I remember teachers and adults telling me, "You will be graduating before you know it and you will remember me saying this". And now I am here writing this and just wanting to go back in time to live my growing up years again, I am sure many people feel this way. But in reality we all know that we can not go back in time and relive our growing up years over again, but honestly how awesome would that be?

Anybody else have any thoughts to share about growing up with runescape?

I'll start this thread off with saying that runescape taught me how to type and I probably couldn't type fast if I had never found the game.

 

i have so many fond memories of the game, i remember when i first started and i was a complete noob, and i had read that cows were good for making money so i was training there wearing bronze and someone traded me full iron, and at the time that was a massive deal for me i was hugeley grateful. i remember aswell when i became a member pretty soon after and my best item was a rune chain.... i loved this game

 

Runescape got fucked up.
Graphics are shit.
New Layout is shit.
Advertisements make it look like shit.

I have strong nostalgia of Runescape. Alas, it will never have the magic like you said, where squeezing in 10 minutes of killing Varrock guards before school was so important. Runescape's fine now; the updates have changed it, the game has progressed, but in reality the only thing that got worse was me growing up. I don't have the attention span anymore to play from 10 PM to 6 AM straight, even with the help of Netflix or even a little booze. Growing up blows.

My favorite memory of Runescape was training ranged at Fire Giants in the Waterfall dungeon. I rented a season of the Simpsons and watched all 20-something episodes in one sitting while training. :nuts:

 

Lol of course not.
It's been beneficial to me as I have loss interest in Runescape, and consequently I have begun to use the computer much less than I used to.
I also have strong nostalgia of Runescape, but it is disappointing to see that what has happened (from our perspectives).

I absolutely hate it also when people say that they dislike Runescape now solely because it has changed. If it hadn't changed at all, no one would like it at all as it would still be that 2D piece of shit they called Classic. Games need to grow and develop to remain interesting. If you play the same old stuff all the time, eventually you will lose interest, there is no way around this.

 

Runescape has taught me many things to be honest, but three things that I would like to briefly touch on,

1. How to type fast.
2. Trusting anybody on the internet is foolish.
3. How to be a good judge of character

These 3 things because over the years of playing I have learnt these things. Particularly the 2nd one.

 

I remember i used to first think it was crap when my friend told me about it, he used to smith me mith items, at that time was happy

 

Runescape teached me a few things :

Speak english (fuck school it never helped me).
Type fast
Never trust anyone
Some people are really funny and cool to speak over skype/ts3 whatever.
Get profit
Get more profit.
i remember this quote : "You never know how much something is worth,untill its gone".
In this case it can be applied to the time,or runescape(old times),or anything else..

I remember the good old days.

I remember working up to my first addy set. I would spend hours mining and then smithing the ore into items just so I could sell it to the general store. Im pretty sure this was before ge came

 

Basically, the game became bigger internationally, and Jagex is trying to capitalise on that. But they did the wrong things and killed the game.

 

I remember setting my alarm clock early, so when I woke up and got ready I would have extra time before school. I would log on and fish in Shilo Village with all the kids from Britain who were off school, wishing I was off of school too so I could fish all day.

Looking back, it wasn't the most productive use of 30 minutes every morning...but damn it was fun.

 

^This especially #1 - I type 95-100 wpm now

I used to wake up an hour before school started so I could go to puro-puro and catch dragon implings. I found out that most of the worlds were empty early in the morning. Ended up making 30M in about a week which was a ton for me at the time.
