What would you users say to a Community Participant Rank, given to users who sign up to attend official/sponsored Sythe.org events. The rank would be a temporary boon given as incentive to individuals who agree to help with community projects. For example, I'm currently working to set up a ROTMG Raid in order to spread awareness for our new RWT niche. I would be asking people to sign up to attend one or several raids (depending upon the level of interest), and for the duration of the event, users would sport a Community Participant rank. When the event is officially closed, the rank will be removed until the next official project.

As a secondary suggestion to augment this one (should you agree this would be viable), I suggest a high-profile image for the rank; a trio of Blue party hats for example. Blue because the secondary "mascot colors" or sythe is blue, and yellow is already used for admin. The reason for the... culturally coveted symbology is to further enhance people's interest in participating to earn the rank.

So show your support or your concerns for:
    1) Introducing a Community Participant Rank for those who sign up for official site projects
    2) High profile image design of three Blue Party Hats.

I think this would be a nice thing to have. It would be a trigger for some members to actually participate in community events. I don't see anything bad that could occur. I'm not sure of the three blue party hats though as I seem that the party hat is more often used for admins, even though it is a different colour.

That is why I threw it out as a second suggestion. Your concern is very valid, it would take some convincing of the administration as well, even if the users agree it would be helpful AND not fatally confusing.

    Thanks for the input! c:

Why not make a "Community Participant" font with a blue partyhat hanging on one of the capitalized letters? You'll knock out the Sythe mascot color and present all sorts of confusion by stating exactly what the temporary rank is. This idea is exactly what needs to happen to spark an interest in participating members. Hopefully the CDT incorporates this scheme soon (if they haven't thought it up already).

It seems like a good idea, but how temporary do you think the rank should be? 3 months? 1 year?

Could you clarify what events you intend the rank to cover? You mentioned ROTMG but I'm not 100% sure on what it is. Does the rank only cover in-game events or Sythe content also?

    MAKE YOUR OWN SUGGESTiON!!!

@RwmRS2, It would be available for any event run by Sythe.org and it's staff, OR officially endorsed events run by users.

@Jake Kastle, the rank would only be given for the duration of the event. For that reason, it's yet to be determined whether the rank will be given to events whose duration is only a few hours, or even a day (starting at the time of conception, planning, recruitment; and ending upon completion of the planned event). So, if a staff run or endorse an event that is planned and executed in a single day, it probably wouldn't be necessary to hand out the rank for that kind of event.

No. It's stupid. For ROTMG, surely only certain people would be able to access at that time, so for starts its timezone bias', then if it spread to WoW etc, it'd be biased to whether you pay for WoW, no rank needed. There would be too many people with it anyway.

I'm not sure where you see the suggestion as stupid though... your reasons to refute it are that not everyone likes ROTMG or WoW, but the suggestion doesn't only affect participation in those games. The suggestion is for any site event, whether the subject of the event is a video game, a community project, or some other type of officially endorsed competition.

As for the amount of people with the rank, that's why I said it's temporary, only to be available for the duration of the official event. It's supposed to symbolize commitment to the forum, and if you wish to continually portray your level of dedication, then you would continue to participate in events. I think it's a very rewarding incentive.

If it were to be broad, across many games, hopefully you would just sit the ones out that you didn't have, and participate in the ones you do.

How would this make sense? You want to give out User Ranks for people who sign up for a single competition?

It should be only for people who actually contribute beyond just joining the competition.

As stated, the rank is temporary, to be awarded for participation, and returned at the end of the event. If someone wished to keep their rank, they need only continue to sign up and participate in site events.

If it proves that there is no one around this community who would like to have a reason to earn a new rank, then it's indeed a useless suggestion, but I can name several... tryhard individuals if no one else who'd die for the opportunity to be that much cooler

The rank would be blue phats? Definately no. Fuck that. Phats are related to administrators, highly trusted ranks and very trusted staff's custom ranks, not to every tom dick and harry.

It's better to be 'too much' rather than 'too little' when trying to spark a new category on fire.
