Who actually bothers with PVP?

I was talking with a mate about it briefly.
We concluded there are too many people who act "hard" when pking with the whole trash talking and crap like that.



Who actually bothers?

 

I used to have a pure but got so turned off the PK community, especially around Lv. 60 - 70. Almost everyone is an asshole.

 

Same here, I hardly PK now, even though I'm a noob but used to love go PKing, but man, pking nowadays is getting "humiliated" by the other person verbally haha

 

I pvp to release stress, not to act hard, its just another component of the game

 

You know it's getting bad when people farcast you in white portal and then say sit.

 

I find it quite amusing to be brutally honest.

A few months ago, when I was having a bad day, I would go on my pure and troll and annoy people just because I could lol...

 

I have to agree with you, w65/18 is full of immature asshole's.
Even the new brid world is starting to fill up with likewise.

 

I PVP with all of my chats set to friends only

 

Stopped PKing in 2009. I tried again in 2010, but I didn't like it.

 

Usually, the brids that completely blow resort to the high level of trashing talking.

Personally, I find it too hard to trash talk and brid. Way to many keystrokes/switches to have time to type out insults.

If the insults get you down in pking, then, that's kind of sad. Makes me wonder what happens when someone in real life tells you to "go fuck yourself" or something along those lines.

 

Wilderness PKing is pretty good, especially with pures on free-to-play worlds. I think I liked it better when it was more multi-combat focused, like back when the main pvp hub was north of Varrock, instead of now north of Edgeville.

I've found that the Clan War's white/red portal is full of hit-and-run ditch huggers, prayer noobs, and protect-itemers, all who are too scared to go to the wilderness.

 

I got 90 str off f2p pking and I used clans, I would usually give my targets free kills because it would basically be them vs my whole clan. I quit pvp for two years and came back and the whole community changed, I can't stand it anymore, back to dungoneering.

 

The Duel Arena still has a shred of respect... kind of.

 

Pffft, pking is nothing compared to fight pits, if you attack the wrong person you get camped and flamed until you leave and get put on the "camp list" so if you ever come back you get instantly killed over and over.

Not to mention all the e-daters that hung around there, they acted like it's real life. If you killed the girl they were dancing with they would make fun of your gear/stats and get their clan to wear veracs and pray melee and fc you, good stuff.

 

Who else misses the classic dds/whip pking, and when they were actually worth decent money..

 

It's not just PvP it's 75% of rs... It's full of 10 year olds who go on their and can't understand how to have a decent conversation without trying to E-thug their way to glory, all they do is try to be dicks about everything they do. Don't get me wrong there are decent players out there that have I can carry on a conversation with while slaying or sitting at the ge waiting for a friend. There's just those kids out there that are complete and utter faggots. That's what made me go to league of legends and purely bot is the community. Runescape has gone to shit and not because of jagex, sure they played a small role but it's the community.

 

Been pking since i started playing Runescape, only continue to do so now because it's the only enjoyable/exciting part of the game for me although I despise the many obnoxious pkers these days. I feel like these people really cast a bad image on those few players who try to pk respectfully and keep their mouth shut while doing so. Personally my favorite Pking era was the Bounty Hunter/PVP Worlds time, I really miss that

 

When I started playing RS again last summer I picked up where I left off on my Zerker, and tried to get caught up with all the content I missed over the 5-6 years I was away. I was still in 2006 PK mode and after getting my character caught up and "ready" for the wilderness, I was very disappointed with how different things were these days - namely rushing & PJ'ing. What ever happened to the good old days where you asked politely for a fight, and where your reputation actually mattered? People would not normally run or trash talk, and people took pride in their PVP skills. Those days seem to be long over.

It didn't take long before I just turned my character into a regular old main, and I've been enjoying all the new game content that I missed ever since.

 

Quit after that, what's the sense anymore? I'll buy wealth if I honestly need it, and I'd rather duel and see instant results rather than camp around with a bunch of know-it-alls who think they've mastered PVPing down to a science.

 

I feel the same. I only tried pking and what-not around 2010 and by then it must have been ruined. I basically did not enjoy it at all due to the crap everyone says and what-not. Mains are more enjoyable imo as they can PvM more successfully and still PvP (i choose not to) if they desire it.
