Votes through PM could work. I still feel the amount of votes received would be lower but it's definitely worth giving it a try.

So the staff will pick a handful of nominees for CDT, and allow the community to vote for whom they feel is deserving of the position whilst you conduct a personal ballet and have someone e.g. Jack Goff tallie the ballet then? At this point, I'm flat out curious as to what the layout would be in this situation.

We haven't set anything in stone yet, we're just taking ideas from the community.

I am at a loss of how this will help...I mean maybe a little, but it will still be a popularity contest...whoever is more known and more popular will be voted for. it is as simple as that lel

Well then, I basically summed up everything that's been written from my own POV, thanks Brendan.

If someone sees everyone else is voting for one member, then generally they'll join the bandwagon. This defeats that purpose.

Nah don't thank me, thanks for taking the time to give some feedback about this project :)

I think for the most part people vote for the person they like or the person that is the most popular...I really have my doubts that near as many people "bandwagon" as you think.

It's mostly just newer members who vote to increase their post count :/ What do you feel would be the most effective method to remove the whole "popularity contest" side of things? This is meant to just be a little bit of fun and to recognise helpful members.

If we do anonymous voting I will help with that

Well, the whole CDT would have to agree to nominate the users. Not just one member be like "Ahah, I'm adding in Billy Joe Bob IIVXIV!" The whole CDT would go through who they think is right. Not just Brendan.

If there is a way this is not the right one. If new members are just voting to get post count then its obviously a messed up poll that shouldn't be conducted anyway. If they just want post count what makes you think they will take the time to actually look at the member instead of blindly voting.

Hmm honestly if you wanted to remove it...you would have to take the time and figure out exactly what each member has done and lay it out in the original post. There might be another way to get a legit voting process, but I can't think of any right now.

Btw even if you did that you would still get bias votes

Why don't we do it over Spam Forum or over PM's?

I was thinking something along the lines of a locked post containing reasoning for each member, why they were chosen etc and then a post where people could vote. But I think anonymous voting will still just be the most liked people being nominated..

lol do it over spam forum? just no...

Pms can work, but they can still be biased.

The only way I can think of it not being biosed in any case at all is laying out what a member has done. I have only thought about it for a short time though

I am honestly suprised so many just jumped on this idea without thinking about it.

    Edited
Yeah that would be good and an anonymous voting/pm system

Obviously this, I'm not some dictator guys, I just organise it lol

It's been done before, Hahanerd ran one for over a year. It's meant to be a bit of fun and recognition for community members.

I think if you guys were to somehow mass pm every user that has been online in the past (Idk, two weeks?) just asking their opinion you would get a lot larger response from Sythe users.

An example of why you are nominating a certain member wouldn't hurt.

E.G a quote or a link to a thread where a certain member was helpful.
