    Scientists Convicted for Manslaughter... over nature?

    Apparently some scientists and a political figure head were convicted of manslaughter in Italy for being too "reassuring" to the public about the possible seismic activity.

    As you may or may not know, seismology is one of the most unpredictable fields of science.

    I can't believe how poorly the judge handled this case to begin with. Now all seven of them are sentenced into 6 years of prison for something they had no definite predictability on as experts, wow.

    Not only that but it sets a bad precedent on science in general, "get it wrong and you go to jail!"

    As far as Italy's concerned I definitely agree with you 100%. That's just pathetic, 8+ years of college, and a whole life dedicated to a growing field for what?

    That is weird to say the least. But I can understand where they are coming from from a legal standpoint. Still, it seems like it would discourage the scientific community from experimenting or even more from sharing their findings.
