Basically...I live in the Middle East, in a country called Oman, and people have money here...I love cars, like alot, and I was thinking, I could use that to my advantage...

Would it be a good idea, if I studied Mech Eng, in bachlors and masters, and...create my very own car 'shop'. Basically what I will do is 3 things...

    1) Import classics from the US and sell them as they are. (Mustangs, ford GTs etc)

    2) Install custom parts and modify cars (turbos, exhausts etc)

    3) CREATE & DESIGN custom cars... this means, I will buy a chassis say from ford, and depending on the clients needs, design a car which is in their mind. It can be ANYTHING, as I will have a 3D designer working with the client to make whats in there head. I will make exactly what the client wants for example:

    -V8, supercharged engine
    -6 Speed manual
    -Low suspension
    -4 wheel braking

    etc...

A custom car will be anywhere from between $50k-$250k

    Would this idea work?

Designing cars isn't as easy as you think it is. My father and grandfather have designed and build all sort of motorized things and it takes a deeply innate knowledge of the workings of the entire car and a lot of time and money. Unless by designing you just mean putting cars together from parts, which really isn't designing it's more like working a puzzle. As Bro said, you better have A LOT of money to import cars and you have to have a large and willing market.

If this is what you love then go for it! With the education required and a positive state of mind I have faith in your success. Good luck
