    Teachers can't teach?

It's seriously becoming unbelievable, It's like all they do is read of a textbook. I bet they don't even know themselves. They expect us to pass exams when crappy teachers that can't even teach.

    Teachers can't teach?

This issue your talking about is to large. Teachers who teach easier subject levels this may be the case. I take AP Classes and that's not the case at all. A lot of them have master degrees. To have that degree some would call you very smart. I think saying teachers can't teach is silly.

    Teachers can't teach?

Some can, some can not - Most do read from a textbook because they can not remember what they have to teach, and that is just normal in my opinion, they aren't superhumans and they forget to, albeit some can not teach altogether, they are few.

    Teachers can't teach?

There are quite a few teachers who are not that great at their job, but unfortunately society dictates that teachers are perfect and that if we aren't learning from them, it's our fault. Over my years of schooling I have encountered teachers who are wonderful and actually teach, but I have also come across teachers who are just horrible and make it difficult to learn. In fact, last year in chemistry I had a horrible teacher. He was infamous in the school for being shitty, and sure enough he was. At one point I was failing horribly on a lab, and when I asked him for help he started speaking nonsense. I ended up going home and looking up the lab online to see what the deal was, and it turned out he had no clue what he was talking about. I talked with some of his current and past students and they had similar stories to tell. I actually brought it up to the principal and he just shrugged it off because people consider most teachers to be infallible when it comes to actually teaching.

    Depends where you are studying.

Private schools have, for the most part, excellent teachers. I would know, I've been going to one since 1st grade.

If anyone has watched the movie: Waiting for Superman, you'd know the problems with a lot of schools as well as the teachers.

So many teachers on the High School level and below are terrible at their job. I remember Sophomore year of math, geometry, having one of the worst teachers ever. Completely ruined my experience with mathematics at the time, yet Junior year I had undoubtedly one of the best teachers for Algebra 2/Trig, which made me fall in love with mathematics. I loved it so much because of her I went on to take Pre-Calc during the summer before my senior year at a community college. Currently in Calc 3 now and I have a great understanding of math and I really find it interesting.

So basically, how well the teacher can teach really can dictate a lot on the students' view on the subject as well.

    Teachers can't teach?

depends on the level your studying at, ive got some teachers teaching me economics and business now, and some of them know what they are doing 100% clearly well educated in the subject and are extremely good at it. On the other hand, i have some that do read from the textbook more often but its because they do not remember everything, they just aren't as good teachers but do know what they are on about.

    Teachers can't teach?

Often it's not about not knowing the material, it's about their personality.
Some teachers can't control a class, or can't get along with students, or are fucking annoying, or anything else, and that just gets in the way

I don't think you realise what teaching is. They read from a text book, yes, but I'm pretty sure you'd have notes were you asked to teach a class what you knew. Textbook's word things better for children to understand, whereas a teacher's own words could be confusing. If you've ever taught someone something, or explained something, I'm sure you'd find it easier with notes. It's not their job to memorise everything exactly.

This, pretty much. They have the qualifications, just not the skills to control certain people/classes.

    Teachers can't teach?

I went to one of the top high schools in my state and most of the teachers were amazing. There was one or two who carried a bad reputation for being unable to teach but they all had masters degree's and understood the material.

I'm just lucky enough to have not went to a school where the teachers were unable to teach and didn't know the material.

Don't matter even if a teacher posseses a master's degree, if there is an inability in being able to help the student understand a particular topic then that is classed as failed teaching.

Currently experiencing it with my as level chemistry, I mean this fucking teacher doesn't even have a relative degree in chemistry and she's teaching us >.>

    Blame Union rules/regulations.

A lot of those older, boring teachers that you can hardly understand what they say or even teach can't/won't be fired because they've been with the school for the longest time period. Thus, if there are budget cuts and someone needs to go, the newest guy will be fired even if he's an amazing teacher. Compared to the old guy that's not interesting or even worth the money they're paying him to teach.

I rarely had bad teachers in high school.
Many were great and actually impacted my life for the better. Perhaps I got lucky, I suppose.

It's kind of a shame that there are shitty teachers out there when the job market for high schools is SO difficult.

Another example I'd like to add was when I took physics during my senior year of high school - my teacher was god-awful. I ended up failing the regents (New York State final exam) and I had no interest in learning anything about physics because the teacher sucked.

Currently an Engineering Major taking Engineering physics and loving it >_>

Some of you peeps is retarded. The textbooks outline the course material. Teachers have been to college. If they're teaching you high school shit, they've probably already learned it.. Shit, I could teach a high school class. The students are so idiotic it would be hard to try and give a shit. Point being, they know what they're teaching, it's kindergarten shit.. They just use the book to make sure they cover everything required, they don't have to study it..

As far as college's or universities go, you would be hard pressed to find a teacher that doesn't know what they're talking about.
