If a Zombie Apocalypse DID Happen...

Nowadays, we see a lot of zombie movies released yearly depicting what would happen if there was a zombie virus that revived the dead.

So let's say that everything happened like in the movies; you get infected through blood contact (only, let's keep air out for simplicity's sake,) die, and come back to life to feed on the living, and the only way to kill the walking dead is by hurting the brain. However, the infection has just started.

With the knowledge of zombies that we have now thanks to the zombie movies, do you think that we will be able to quarantine the infection and kill it off before it actually becomes an apocalypse?

note) that's just what I'm interested in, but feel free to talk about anything else

Finally find some use for my arsenal.

 

Get any gun and 2 or 3 magazines of ammunition.

Gather around 10 people who i dislike and act like im going to befriend them , tell my family and friends where to meet me in such a such time.

get dislikers to follow me, every half mile shoot one at the back on the group in the kne cap once, theyl scream and shout and never be able to keep up, zombies eat them giving us time to move on with a fair distance between us and it gets rid of haters.

Carry on until fair distance towarsd specificied meet up with family and friends, Make some appletinees , lock door of safe house, done

 

personally, i'd flee to somalia and become a pirate

Go to an Army base or something, they would have firearms and air transport hopefully.

I have no idea. maybe if we do something like in 28 days later, where we close off the areas where the virus has spread to. Evacuate those that aren't infected, then blast the hell out of the zombies

 

I'd get all my guns and travel to an army base. Not only would I have my guns, but also theirs, therefore using less of my ammo, therefore lasting longer. Logic'

@T V, my use of quarantine is that. It kills them off, yes?

 

We know alot about the spread of infectious disease but you gotta consider that Zombie Disease X or whatever is going to have an incubation period - so it is going to spread all over before we even know it.

 

Get on a roof that only has one entrance. Have a AA12 with about 20,000 Rounds and bring hell

If it's only blood contact it'd be very easy to keep quarantined.

 

If the problem was extremely serious and I lived in an area where a lot of outbreaks occurred, I'd probably die from a government nuke or something, as that would have to be the safest option to contain quarantines.

Argh, I forget the movie, but it was a movie where people were becoming zombies (or like zombies?) and the main characters had to flee their city.

At the end of the movie #SPOILER# the two characters are zoomed in on by a drone in the air and immediately label the entire city that they were traveling to as an infected zone because apparently they carried the virus. Basically the people were trying to escape from the military in their quarantined town but it was futile as they had an eye on them the entire time.

 

Sounds like Ebola to me. First thing that would have to happen to contain it is an aviation lockdown and good border control around the infected area. As long as it's localized it's also trivial
The US would just send in their DARPA and biological weapons guys and sort it out. Once again, if it spreads by blood only, Hard Plastic covering over areas likely to be bit - arms, legs, shoulders, neck - should be enough unless you get some sort of internal fallout.

 

Shaun of the dead is a perfect example of how it's done.

 

Living in a country ( state specifically ) where most of the public owns firearms, I don't think it would spread effectively.

 

Ever see the movie "The Crazies"? Basically that shit goes down.

It would depend on whether or not it first hit a large city. If it were to begin in downtown Chicago, or New York, I think the US would have serious difficulties keeping it quarantined.
