The RS Economy today and tomorrow

I've always been fascinated by how economies work, IRL and Virtual as far as supply and demand is affected. Where do you think the future or the RS economy is headed. North or South?

 

South due to massive inflation. There aren't enough outlets for the GP, and so it just keeps piling up. I think if some sort of gambling outlet for RSGP was introduced (i.e. an in-game slot machine that took rsgp out of circulation), then the economy would boom and continue to thrive for quite a while.

 

South, definitely. Either that, or jagex just remove a hella-lot of GP from circulation, or they ban a LOT of RWT'ers (please don't), otherwise it's gonna suck forever.

 

Houses were made just to try to get GP out of the economy.

 

Well so far that hasn't proved to be a very effective approach. They need to get something that will take out very large sums at a time.

 

It only costs like 300 million to get 99 construction (or did I believe). That's not nearly enough now. Buying hats or fancy clothing that is untradeable and collectable that costs hundreds of millions could help.

 

They should just make a clothes set that you have to drop like 2b just to get, and all it does is make you look richer than nigeria

 

This is basically what I suggested.

 

It's obvious they can't stop the gambling problem, Jagex should just introduce 50/50 games where if you lose the gp gets removed from the game.

 

This is a great idea, if this doesn't happen I can see it going south quickly.

Anyways, just from a personal outsider's standpoint, I feel like the game itself has been deteriorating over time.

South forsure, but my view is that its the botters fault (i say that as im buying scripts), if it wasnt for the mass raw materials being generated, with more supply then demand it puts a lot of gp into the economy without taking any out. Keep in mind i havent played in a year, but when i left it was baaad. I think the game just got too big for the economy

 

I was thinking they just accept the fact that gambling is not going to go away. They should almost have a set area in a world set to gambling where if you lose the money goes out of circulation. A lot of players I think would play even if the odds were against them because it takes the risk of scamming out yet leaves them with a chance to win some money. What ever it is they decide to do if it does not happen by sometime January or February I suggest major rsgp sellers cash out for I believe there will be a ECO Reset for like players over 3b.

 

I'm pretty sure there's some legal ramifications if Jagex endorses gambling based off of online gambling laws making it illegal for people under 18 to gamble online. That's probably the only thing stopping them from doing it, because we know they only care about money anymore.

 

Very good point I did forget about that! But there are many ways to get around so called "Gambling" institutes for they could make like a lottery system or somehow do something with the drop party room where everyone puts in a certain amount of money and when you pull the lever one player wins it all while each pull takes 10%.

 

If Jagex introduced a 50/50 game people would just constantly double and the economy would go to pieces in minutes. Jagex needs another thing such as shards which are UNTRADABLE. Construction only really drains the economy through making planks, yet this is offset through things such as alching. Supply in the economy is way too high like you guys mentioned, and demand is also sinking. If they want the economy to survive they need to also ensure the future of the game so that there is DEMAND. Jagex needs more things like the korasi sword - where it costs money and is an untradable weapon. Perhaps things such as untradable armour enhancements, such as ornament kits which cannot be resold. Unless they make serious changes, the economy is going to the south pole.
