Nah but that's going to be the answer, it's the answer to every suggestion.

 

Well yeah, they said they didn't feel like re-implementing or adding anything until vB4 to save time. Someone said that it was gonna be out by the end of the month I think? Maybe n4n0, not sure. And it'll only be a trial run and if the servers can't handle it it'll be removed.

 

Search is a default function in vB although may be optimized in vB4, I can't imagine vB4 causing server issues compared to this ancient copy.

 

Advanced search still works.

 

I do believe it is this. There's a reason for it that I only have partial information for and can't share. It's annoying but it should be back eventually.

 

Like others said, doesn't vB come with a search functionality out of the box? Why would we need to wait for vB4 if it's just a toggle-able option?

 

Probably just they can't be bothered to flick the switch on when vB4 is so close. (Rumoured to be out at the end of this month.) Also, the reason it was removed was because we were having a large amount of server issues. It's very plausible that if it comes back these issues will return. vB4 is a much newer version of vBulletin obviously, so these errors should be lessened.

 

I know sectional mods can't search, and the reason is more complex than just server load.
Nobody but the admins really seem to know why it's disabled.

I'm really waiting for search to come back again.. Indefinitely support this to its full extent.
