I rarely buy, never smoke alone, but often smoke with my friends. Not regularly, but most of the time at least one of them has bud. Im high right now haha. Between pot and cigarettes (smoked them for about a month, ew) i can say that pot had way less effect on my lungs, being a swimmer

 

I buy too much pot.. I smoke alone quite a bit, but I see nothing wrong with that. Yeah.

Been smoking weed since 4/20 2010. Got to the point where I was getting high ~180 times a month. Went to "rehab" and dropped from 180 times a month to less than 10 times a month.

 

Sometimes. Only with mates.

 

I know right, it makes me face palm as is this all people can talk about and that they must confirm with everyone that they still smoke pot?

I'm not a drug user. I'm against it and, I'll be honest, I'm semi biased against people that use it without knowing them.

 

I don't do weed, mainly because I'm scared that if I do I'll turn into one of these people who never shuts up about it and bore everyone else to death.

 

Seriously, I dont smoke so much weed. Last time was a few months ago and I did it cuz I was so sad and boored. Ended up me feeling even worse.

It's people like you that make me keep my use mostly private until I've gotten to know the person better. I've become friends with people exactly like what you just said, keeping the fact that I smoke a secret, and after I've become pretty close with the person and they have a pretty high opinion of me, I'll let them know. Pretty much all of these people were in complete shock and would have never guessed based on how intelligent I appear and act, my high grades in school, hard-working behavior, and absence of legal trouble or conflict with my parents. The problem is that people like you and them stereotype people and make assumptions before actually getting to know them. Smoking weed doesn't make you a bad person, your behavior and choices are what make you a bad person, which you are completely in control of, not the drug. It's been proven that weed is actually less harmful than alcohol and tobacco, both of which are legal if you fit the age requirement. There are 17 states where medical marijuana is legal, so to stereotype and judge pot smokers before getting to know them is just like stereotyping and judging people who drink alcohol (Over 50% of Americans ages 12 & older) or smoke tobacco (~20% of adults, not counting minors), simply because of their habit, rather than how they are as a person. Treat someone the way you would want to be treated, and you'll see how differently things can turn out. Also, as long as someone is not causing severe harm to themselves or those around them, I don't judge people for their drug habits, I judge them by how they act as a person. Let people do whatever drugs they want (as long as they aren't harming others), and let them receive the related consequences. If bad shit starts happening because of their use, then they deserve that for their choice, and they will need to deal with it the best they can. You don't know their life story, and why they use what they use, so who are you to judge them without understanding?

 

weed is overrated. it's more of an event for me, i don't enjoy being high but i enjoy the experience and it's more of a fun thing to do when bored with friends.

 

I'm a young stoner. I really have learned so much more after smoking pot.

Trent pretty much summed up most of what I was going to say.

I'll admit that some of the weed threads on here can be pretty annoying, but I actually haven't seen one for quite some time now, so quit whining about it. It's just plain stupid to assume that that's all smokers can talk about based on a single thread that pops up every so often. You also act like only young people smoke, which only proves your ignorance. Stop believing all the ridiculous stereotypes you heard from your parents and in your 9th grade health class.

I'm biased against people who judge others they don't know for something they know nothing about and think they're a better person just because they don't smoke. Only shows how arrogant you are and your lack of maturity. And before someone says "well I know someone who smokes weed and he's a lazy and dumb". Well good for you, but that's just one person and they were lazy and dumb before they started smoking, even if the weed does bring it out more. I'm not saying weed is good for you and everyone should do it, because I don't think that at all. I'm one of the few people who smokes and I'm not for legalization. The crime rate that is caused from the illegality of it would definitely decrease and it would no doubt give the government more money from taxing it, but it would also put it in the hands of many more people, which is not a good thing at all. Though, I do think it should absolutely be decriminalized. The punishment for a simple possession charge is absurd and no one deserves to have their life ruined for it.

And yes, the law does ruin lives. One of my best friends is a perfect example. He got robbed and the police ended up showing up at his house afterwards, finding a gram of weed and charging him with it. The people who robbed him were supposed to do 6 years, but got off with nothing because of lack of evidence. So my friend, gets put on probation for a year and loses his license, along with fines, classes and community service. Within a span of a couple years, his sister dies from getting hit by a drunk driver, his dad dies from a mistake the doctors made during surgery, his mom dies of breast cancer, his grandma dies, his aunt commits suicide, and his cousin gets mistakenly shot in the head from a drive-by. All he has left is an aunt who he now lives with. After all this, he has no way of paying his fines, getting to probation, classes, etc. He runs from a warrant for a year and ends up getting arrested for being in the car with me after getting pulled over for a broken tail light, which wasn't even broken, just the plastic was cracked a little bit. He spends a month in jail and his probation and everything else doubles once he gets out. He tries to do what he needs to do the best he can with the help of friends and does okay for a few months, but he eventually ends up missing one probation visit and gets put back in jail for another 2 months. Now he's been running from another warrant for over 2 years now and he can't get a job because of it. His life was already beyond fucked from losing his whole family, but now he's worse off than ever and it's pretty much impossible to fix. I realize that this is just about the worst possible scenario, but similar shit happens all the time and it's sickening. And all because of a gram of weed that was in his own house.

I've smoked pretty much daily on and off for over 9 years now, but it isn't at all something I have to have. I often go several weeks to months without it. I do it simply because I enjoy how it makes me feel, not because I need it to function or I'm bored with my life. Physically, it hasn't affected me negatively at all. I've graduated from college and I have a full time job. I'm pretty happy with where my life is at now. I will admit that I have been in trouble with the law a number of times when I was younger, but that was more because of the many other dumb choices that I made, along with my heavy use of opiates. The first drug I ever did was a Percocet that I got prescribed from the doctor after getting my wisdom teeth taken out. I didn't even touch weed until months later. Even with everything I've dealt with, it still hasn't permanently damaged me. I definitely regret many of the things I've done and I would take back ever touching drugs (excluding alcohol and weed) to begin with if I could, but I still overcame my problems and it has made me a stronger person overall.

 

If you need a reason to smoke weed - you aren't a true stoner..
