Should I mention RWT on college application?

I know this is going to come off as trollish or idiotic, but srsly. I made a grand of gold selling, do you think that would come off as innovative and creative, or would it come off as creepy as fuck and sketchy? I would not necessarily say runescape, maybe digital currency trading?

 

Yes it's not something that a lot of people do, so it would make you stand out more and they would probably ask you questions about it. It's a good attention grabber.

Right now I don't think you do at 13 posts, but if you have accounts on other forums or something like that you could put it as a sort of job to get attention

 

It depends really. A grand from real world trading digital currency isn't all that impressive, and could bring up questions about your business ethics considering that real world trading isn't supported by a good number of games and is seriously looked down upon in RS. Let's say you made $10k from flipping property in Second Life. That would be so much more impressive because the SL real estate market works much like the real world real estate market. Unless you own some sort of gold site where you are managing numerous employees I don't see it as something that is really all that impressive. I personally wouldn't include it, but that is just me.

I wouldn't. As impressive as showing initiative and running your own business to make $1,000 is, it just isn't the type of thing that I wouldn't brag about. If you're running thin on things to put on your application then by all means go for it, but I would definitely work on the wording to make it sound as professional and least "black market" as possible.

You have to get in the mindset of people who are reviewing your app. Middle-aged folk who probably think RWT is illegal

Runescape's rules; highly doubt a middle aged person will spend the time of day to research such a thing. In addition, he's not foolish enough to write down on a college resume that he participates in real world trading (verbatim).

 

Technically, you are breaking the law (via jagex t&c's) by RWT'ing, so I wouldn't recommend it.

 

I personally wouldn't. It's generally not seen as something "clean".

I wouldn't recommend it. It would make you seem shady if you where to tell someone that isn't familiar with rwting that you made $1k+ selling runescape gold.

 

I wouldn't honestly, not a real skill like being able to speak 2 languages..
