Jagex account guardian on a bought account

Has anyone activated jagex account guardian on a bought account?

There was a big hype about it when it was released, then appeared to die down quickly.

Guessing that whether you have it activated or not, the original owner, will ALLWAYS be able to recover it?

If the I.P's are matching from a long time back, jagex will assume you got hacked and the hacker placed the account guardian. I'm pretty sure that the original owner can ALWAYS recover the account.

 

if a new i.p was to activate it, is there a chance the account could get locked?

 

More than likely, as they'd believe that it was the hacker, therefore protecting the account by locking it, and waiting for the original I.P to file a request. Safest way - Get the original owner to set them, and then give them to the buyer, so when questioned, the buyer can say that he has moved house, and it's ofc him as he knew them. Problem solved IMHO. A guy I knew bought an account and when he forum posted for Jagex to remove the JAG (so he could set it with his own recovery questions etc) Jagex knew he wasn't the original owner and locked the account. The original owner can always recover the account despite what you do however.

 

Perhaps I_DONT_BOT is onto something, that's actually a great idea. The only other factor I could see aiding this type of situation is (if you use an OMM) the OMM collects the money/GP/etc from the buyer and then he/she team views the buyers account, logs into the account, screen shoots the IP, then tells the owner to reset his IP. It could be a possibility if the OMM has a list of ways to change the IP and the account owner is given a certain period of time to change the IP. The reason why this would work is because team viewer provides a unique ID for every computer so ultimately the OMM can team view with exact same ID for this particular computer and see whether or not the IP is changed. In fact, the OMM can check the account owner's network information and such to make doubly sure this person didn't mobile hot spot, walk to a friends house, etc. What're your thoughts, this is coming from the top off my head so forgive me if it's rough around the edges.

 

It's not just about IPs. I mean, who keeps the same IP for 10+ years (which is how old many accounts are now)? Also, people can move (cities or even countries which isn't uncommon). It's a combination of many things, only Jagex knows exactly what they are but a good guess is that one of the deciding red flags is someone logging onto the account from another country or state within a short time after the original owner had logged in.

 

I'm not disagreeing with that, in fact I believe you're 100% correct.

 

The JAG system is set to help you against pishers or hackers that might guess your password or get it somehow.

But as well as there is a thread to remove a registred email, there is a thread next to it about removing JAG.

Answer on your question : The owner can always remove the JAG as long as he provide jagex with enough information that he is the orginal owner.

( IP in this case dosent help at all )

 

OK so i've been asking this for a while but. All my accounts have jag guardian and recovery set..and i wanted to sell them eventualy..but, how do i remove the questions so it would be a sellable account? IK all the details and stuuf
