Really nice set of GFX, but I wouldn't expect anything else from Jordy, good work buddy

 

Not really a fan, if you want my honest opinion. Looks cheap and tacky, soz kin!

Don't like the layout/second text style. The first text options are also far better than the second icon style.

 

I like it a lot! Gives it a fancy but classic look! Nice work

 

There are too many curve thingys protruding off making the letters not that legible in some of them. There are also quality issues with all of them with that fuzzy blurred crap around them but that's probably a result of how you saved it or screen shotted it rather than poor work. I quite like the reckless text though, I'm a fan of san serif text that doesn't over do things too much however.

 

Reaper & Reckless are the only ones i can find aesthetically pleasing.

 

I don't like it. Quite simply, Photoshop has bevel and emboss options, but they aren't much good, and they just suck when compared to C4D. The way most people seem to see text styles is as something reserved for the 2D realm. While it's an artistically interesting idea, it doesn't execute well because bevel and emboss tend to come out choppy, uneven, unrealistic, or oversharpened, super-mindfucking-plasticness and sometimes just plain wierd.

For the last two, look at the areas around the text, where I assume some sort of glow is supposed to be

Overall, good idea, but bad execution, and honestly Photoshop is for one kind of thing, and C4D for another - you're good at it too, no reason to throw it away

 

Those are all font specific issues, they are text styles; applyable on every font, so every single font differs.

 

Actually he brings up several points that are going to transfer among all fonts. The plastic fake look, the texture embedding problems, the overbearing glow, and the oversharpened-ness are all a product of text styles in general. The only way to get really good text is by doing it all by hand in PS, everything else is going to look fake or overdone.

Now, these can be done with my styles too, however they look different, unique, as what I want to accomplish.

Many people (Thousands, actually) think differently then you do.
These text styles can be used in many ways, they don't have to look "plastic-ish" and can easily be adjusted they way they want it to be adjusted (They can for ex. be used w/o bevel & emboss.)

Take a look at others that they sell, they're containing the same effects, yet people are making THOUSANDS of dollars with just a single project.

 

Are you advertising or are you looking to opinions? Because you seem to have posted in the Graphic Gallery section, and we gave you our opinions about how they look. Now if you don't want opinions and just want to advertise there is a place for that in the market section.

 

I am elaborating what I think and what I feel about your opinion, am I not allowed to do so?

 

He's not selling the font face, fonts can be downloaded for free from dafont.com, and you can probably find this specific font on there somewhere if you look hard enough. He's selling the layer style that you'd apply to a font. Layer styles do not make fonts blurry, fuzzy, nor do they add in the complicated serifs that you dislike on Kinaesthic's font samples. Those are all characteristics of a poorly created font face.

As far as Kinaesthic's layer styles, a few are hit and miss, and a few would look right with a proper background/accompanying style. And then there are some genuinely great looking styles, namely the first style in the second batch-- I believe it's a very professional and well designed style. If I were out to look for layer styles, I would consider spending 5 dollars on this as seems to be the average price for these sorts of things.

Nero and Kina, quit fucking bickering. Say your piece and move on. Kina should learn to smile and shake his head at people who flat out disagree with his style while Nero needs to learn to stop rising to an argument when someone disagrees with his disapproval. Neither of you are artistic gods, therefore neither of you can justify your superior, high-horse attitudes. GET OVER YOURSELVES! Thanks

 

I just posted what I thought, I didn't go out my way to be a dick about it or anything but he just go defensive as he did with Noam also. Fighting over this shit is getting ridiculous but if you are going out of your way to be a dick to me when I post my opinion I am not just going to sit back and nod in approval. This is my last post on anything of Kina's, I will keep my opinions to myself from henceforth.

 

From my point of view, I thought you were a dick who would just start shit for the hell of arguing for a long time. (no hate intended). Although after seeing this post my opinion of you changed drastically. I can see where you're coming from.

As for Kin. (BASED ON ASSUMPTIONS)
The first set looks chompy and the glow is buzzy and doesn't look good at all. You even stated it was to do with the font yet you still showcase it? It looks like you just overlayed some text, embossed it with some contour/texture and added an outer glow.

Set 2 well... (BASED ON ASSUMPTIONS)
First text isn't even embossed to look good
second text looks like a cut out of an overlay with some colour tone
Repeater looks like a nice font.
Quest is alright, Simple but the emboss looks nice.
I won't comment on the other 2.

To improve you could possibly change font I suppose.

 

I see what you are getting at then, and my suggestion is that you should stay away from any style that doesn't look good on sans-serif text. The people who buy these styles are most often looking for something to put on a website and you should treat the styles you make and examples you give as such. Building on that, Reckless and Repeater are probably the best ones you've made overall
Just on a side note, sure those styles have made plenty of money, but over a huge time span. These average $3 or 4 a day, and are among the most successful ones for sale.
