Do you think Jagex will make a mass ban soon?

It wouldn't surprise me if they would, not at all.

What do you think?

 

Bottany Bay/Recent RWT action is pretty much a mass ban, is it not?

 

I haven't heard of any bans that isn't from advertisers and goldfarmers?

So I wouldn't call it a mass ban.

 

The two warnings will catch up with the botters soon enough, and they'll all start being banned.

 

What happens when you recive your first warning?

 

1st warning: Recieve a basic warning. A claw comes out from the sky ... and points at your character, kind of like "we're watching you" and the account is given a temp ban.

2nd warning: Clearer, more official warning (e-mails etc) with a longer temp ban and warned that they'll be banned if they bot again.

3rd time: Big interface that pops up saying botting detected, you've been banned or something similar, and the account is banned permanently and is sent to botany bay.

My opinion is that, it will be exactly like the last bot nuke. It would scare botters off for 2-4 months but eventually they will come back. Also botters now know what the punishments are and will probably stop botting after the first warning. The botnay update I think is to try and make legit players happy, however most of the bots sent there are auto-talker bots used for advertising.

I'm relatively sure that is the system they plan on using.

Not being able to use the Grand Exchange? Fuck. That would suck so much.

 

I think is possible that Jagex can surprise us with a mass ban. They tried doing one a week ago or something, ended up banning many innocent accounts, what if they try again and get it right this time?

 

I fairly certain that, that is only temp.

 

If what jagex is saying is true, we can expect a mass ban. However I have lost faith in jagex so I think were safe. I will keep botting as I haven't seen any bannings on non-goldfarmers.

 

^This. Their main goal is to instill fear into botters alike. However, in the end if they do level off each and every botter on the face of Runescape they would see a drastic decrease in their monthly subscription income for following months to come. That's my opinion anyway, not to mention that they would be going against their 3 warning limit which is hypocrisy at its finest. Edit: For those of us who remember the "black hole" this is sort of a laugh that Jagex wuld actually consider putting in time and effort to such a pointless task. *Insert ban hammer here* and you're done, I'm so glad to see that this is where a handful of the developers' time goes...

They never tried doing a mass ban a week ago. That fail was because of a screw up in Botany Bay's detection system.

You haven't been paying much attention to the game and its' updates in the past year or so, have you?

 

Herman, the only time they did a mass ban was ONCE over a year ago. Since then they haven't banned anybody for anything really, and I haven't seen any botters claiming they've got warnings or banned, only spammers. I currently run 30 names around 18 hours a day and none have received a warning.
