If I was a teacher...

Since we know how public schools go, you can get away with anything.
So I'm going to have a "Tactical Strategies" class.

90 minutes for a semester. Everyone will start with level 1 characters on RS and must reach a certain level cap while maintaining being a pure of whatever choice I pick for that class.

The final exam (which is all day for finals per class) is a 6 hour pk party with our matching name matching gear same level pk team.

Opinions? lul.

 

I've actually thought about this before. It would be perfect if it was a class with strategical analysis, both individual and with a group.

Not a great idea. Waste of the kid's future. And besides, most kids don't like playing runescape. (many don't even know it for that matter, but they would probably still not like it)

 

I'd enroll just so I could have told my parents I really was doing homework. Btw my school did have a strategy gaming club after school which counted as elective credit. We didn't play runescape, but we played stuff like Catan and D&D.

Everyone I'm with now (Military specialty training) all games.
Lan parties etc and raid groups irl. It's intense.

 

In my opinion runescape has little strategical value. Everything is already figured out and the combat is about as dynamic as a choose your own adventure book, which isn't very dynamic at all. A better choice would be Arma 2. Have your students start several Day Z squads and see who survives the longest, or something like that or play the vanilla game and have your class battle each other.

 

Regardless, in a "perfect" world I think it would be an interesting final exam for a change

 

I think something based on the Runescape economy would have much more academic value.

 

Will students get an automatic F if they get caught botting?

Most electives are of little to no value, at all.

 

Your cynicism is very depressing. Electives are definitely relevant and valuable to the student's curriculum. How many of us actually go on to be mathematicians?

 

My old highschool taught military tactics through StarCraft 2, it would be easy to replicate it with RS, since other variables are eminent.

 

Starcraft is a fucking strategy game ... runescape isnt and has no value trying to teach strategy ... its just all timing and clicking. This would be a good idea (but has already been done) with an actual strategy game .. being graded on pking and clicking skills is flat out stupid and has nothing to do with strategy

 

This is an extremely valid statement, but he already has the permission as well as the authority to do so. Which leads me to question how you obtained such permission to do something such as this?

 

First of all you need to be naturally well with numbers (*cough* me *cough*) to be a mathematician, accountant, etc...

And you cant tell me that majority of elective classes aren't complete slacks. In my criminal justice class all we do is watch CSI, NCIS, and the live debate things on TRU tv. Or my innovated foods class where we make things like cookies, donuts, cake, brownies, funnel cakes, and everything else that is unhealthy and good tasting. I'm also in Minnesota, which has one of the highest academic standards for public schools in America (not that it means anything, just saying if we slack i'm sure other places do to.)

OT: In a graphics class some of my friends took they created WoW items and armor (characters too i think) redesigned them and created there own. Eventually they incorporated some of the better designs into a private server or something a long those lines in a different class.

 

The majority of my electives were actually useful. It's probably because your school is retarded or something. All except current events. All we did was talk about current events and I didn't really learn anything I didn't already know.
